ECs- I have a green belt in tae kwon do, have trained in classical Indian music for two years, and Bharatnatyam for one year. I had also been a part of a band, called Reeth Rock band, in Lucknow (a little more than 5 years ago, have given a performance too). I have taken part in plenty of cultural festivals, and in one of the Indian cultural exam, scored distinction. I have achieved a certificate for academic excellence in Business studies from my school. I have been a part of my school's NGO club, and have gone on trip with school on an Orphan support center called SOS. During my grade 10th, I used to teach Maths, English and Science to students from class 6th to 8th. I also helped out in an Ashram (Ram Krishna mission) in Gwalior as a volunteer occasionally on Sundays, and once in New Delhi branch of the same. The total number of hours I spent in these Org. is more than 100hrs. I am currently the editor of the school magazine, and have been Class Monitor/ representative so many times that I can hardly count anymore. I was also a volunteer during my school's Sports event. I have been a Guide (Girl Scout), thus a part of Bharat Scouts and Guide Association. Although, I had to leave because my current school doesn't support it. I also have been a part of coming-with-seasons Kind of stuff too....

I am in dire need of Financial Aid too......and in search of quality education... HELP!!

definetely not cornell or penn sry

I think you’ll get into Mount Holyoke. You may want to get your writing score up into the 600s if you have any hope to get into somewhere like Cornell. I mean, that’s a top notch school.

I thot Cornell does not take writing scores into consideration…

meghna147,

In my opinion, I know some schools say that they only look at CR and M but they can still see the writing and if that looks bad I don’t think they look upon it too kindly. I honestly don’t think there’s any school that just doesn’t consider writing altogether.

You say that “I am in dire need of Financial Aid” and that you are an international applicant. Unfortunately many of the people in this forum aren’t familiar with the challenges that come with that status. For better advice for your situation, you should ask your questions in the International Students Forum (there also is a sub-forum for students from India). Click on “Discussion Home” in the upper-left of this screen, and then scroll down to find it.

If you have not already done so, you need to read through everything at [EducationUSA | Study Abroad, Student Visa, University Fairs, College Applications and Study in the U.S. / America](http://www.educationusa.info/) and then you should make an appointment with the counselors at the advising center closest to you. There are several in India [EducationUSA - Find an Advising Center](India | EducationUSA) The counselors there are expert at helping students from your country find good places to study in the USA. They will be able to tell you which colleges/universities here have admitted students like you within the past few years, and whether or not those students received any financial aid.

Wishing you all the best.
