<<help me="" eliminate="" colleges="" out="" of="" these,="" and="" recommend="" any="" if="" you="" wish="" (i'm="" not="" going="" to="" apply="" for="" all="" them,="" course!="" just="" maybe="" 10-15)="">></help>

Anyone?
Did Dartmouth ED btw :)

You’re certainly in the running but I think it just depends on the competition from India this year. Is the economy as bad there as it is here? Maybe fewer will apply to the need aware schools this year leaving a greater opportunity for those who can pay.

At Dartmouth, which just became need blind this year and deployed lots of adcoms to spread the message, they are expecting a flood of international applicants.

Thanks!
The condition has deteriorated a bit here, but not so much as in the US.

You need to be more clear on the rank–since all the Ivies determine acceptances entirely based upon rank. Also, you haven’t indicated the GPA–either unweighted or weighted–which is the single most important thing at all the colleges.

Please tell us these and then we can do chances for you.

Just a note:

If you are not in the top 5% at your school, then expect to have a chance at only the lowest Ivy–Cornell–and not at the others.

If you are in the top 5%, then it depends on how high your rank is.

Thanks,

We have no ranking system in our schools. I’m in the top 5% academically.

neither do international schools have GPA. We fill the international supplement, and in my school above 70% is top percentile and has also been mentioned in the attached school profile. My scores are more or less above that.

UChicago and below on that list i think you’re in. others are just based on luck b/c they’re so unpredicatable

chance back?

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/603590-i-just-found-out-i-f-d-up-last-thread-damn.html</a></p>

GSW, are you sure about UChicago and the ones just below it? (I’m an international asking for fin. aid )

Spidey, of course he’s not sure. Frankly, few here have a clue and taking much here seriously would be foolish. Look at any info your school has from others who have applied to these schools, that’s the most reliable data you can get. Seek out alum in your country who can also advise you. It’s hard enough to know with Americans, but internationals are applying in increasing numbers here every year and the competition from your country this year is something we can’t even guess.

How many Indians approximately apply to US colleges per year ?

good sats, good grades, good ECs, bad college choices.

your list is very prestige motivated and some schools aren’t really known for their computer science courses here. try refining your list with more research. i’m surprised also that you don’t have CMU. shove it in there, they’re good for com sci. and i think they’ve a new center for com sci. coming up too.

@calcruzer: it also depends on the context of your school. in my school, top 5% = 4 students and i’m pretty sure more will go to HYPMS + ivies than just 4 kids. trust me on that one.

buddy :expressionless: I know about carnegie mellon, but the aid factor comes in for me!! Same with UCBerkeley and similar others.

cmu doesnt give any aid…so he can’t apply there…

bump .

Any more ?people?
