I am applying for the fall 2010 intake. PLEASE do tell me my chance for a PhD in biological science (biochem, molecular cell biology, physiology, dev biology) at florida state univ

For any reasonable read on your chances at graduate admission I really suggest you visit the department you want and consult with faculty in your areas of interest. You may present exactly what the department needs and youā€™d be ā€œinā€ or merely competing with other applicants.

friend, thank you for your reply and I am in the process of contacting the professors.

Good luck! Please let us know how it works out for you.

I can see that IIT-Madras is an elite school, Iā€™m sure that will work for you.

sureā€¦ friendā€¦can you please suggest me some universities (though, i am not sure if this is the right thread to ask)???

Frankly, your specialty is far afield from my area, so I suggest you ask the faculty at Florida State. They would know.

oh yes, out of anxiety, i did not think if you are in the same field. Thanks anyway friend. I will contact them.

Hey, i would try and get your GRE up a little bit and you will have a good chance.

R u from India by the way?

hi satscholar, yes, I am from India. Deadline for many universities are nearing and I have also applied for the subject GRE. So I think it may be difficult for me to take another try. Moreover, I fear if my score would decrease. Having a Master degree in the relevant field, will my application be stronger or compensate my low gre score?

Hey,

Have you joined the INSAT group yet? I think you would get a better chance me response there because about 95% of them are people who have been in your position before and are now graduate students here. Let me know if you want more information.

hi, may i know about INSAT group please? I am unaware of that.

hey, yes, i searched for thatā€¦ it is Indian Students Association of Tallahassee.

Have you joined?

hi i think the group is for those who have been already selected for a university at floridaā€¦
Anyways, thanks for your saying about the group

Not really, you can join to get more information, you donā€™t need to be an FSU student.
