Chance me for...

Stanford
UCBerkeley
UPenn (Wharton)
MIT
Harvard
Columbia
UCLA
Cornell
Princeton

Also, I'm planning on apply early to a university next fall, but I'm unsure of which one - any suggestions/advice? Sorry for the somewhat long-winded post, but I really appreciate any feedback you guys can give.

Thanks guys =)

UCLA-match
Wharton-low reach
Cornell-low reach/high match
UC Berkeley- match
Harvard MIT Princeton and Stanford are all reaches

You look like a great applicant to me …well all the chances above are my own opinion and I personally feel if you write amazing essays, show yourself as a distinct applicant and display solid interest for the schools you want to attend then you won’t have much to worry about

Also remember to clearly show what your passions are…that way you would come out as a focused individual

Apply to the school that most appeals to you and a school that you feel you have a great chance to attend

All the best

Your EC’s are excellent, you should definitely stress those in your application. Now, your schedule is not “the most rigorous”. I don’t know if that’s the hardest possible in your school, but you should have taken 4 HL classes and not 3. I’m going to take 4 HL + 1 AP and that’s the most my school offers. Other than that, good luck.

Thanks for the feedback, guys =)

@rokr32 Yea unfortunately my school only allows 3 SL and 3 HL

Hmmm

Not quite sure what your predicted score will be, but if you’re in the 42+ region with 7s in your HLs your grades would be quite competitive. But as above, 4HL and 2SL would be more competitive…o well. SATs are outstanding, would be good if you can still show some officer positions you obtained as a result of your commitments.

Otherwise:

UCBerkeley-match BUT I heard it’s extremely hard for us asians to get in cuz it’s filled to the brim with asians
UPenn (Wharton)-reach (sometimes its a bit chancy)
MIT-high reach as you indicated “High 80’s/Low 90’s” so I assume your grades were in the high 80s to low 90s on average for all four years? maybe this is a wrong assumption.
Harvard-high reach
Columbia-reach
UCLA-match (but once again, hard for asians to get in)
Cornell-match
Princeton -high reach

Watch out for schools in california though, namely stanford, UCLA and berkeley. The state is filleddddddddddd with asians and EVERY single asian parent dreams of their child getting there. I’ve even heard of them labeling a “Non-Asian Minorities” group. It’s pretty tough for international asians, strong competition up ahead and every single asian from korean, chinese, taiwanese schools with good grades will apply. But if you are say, filipino, burmese, vietnamese…etc then disregard the above.

but overall, your SATs are absolutely amazing (drools) and your record looks sound to me. good luck with your apps next year! :)

Your records are so impressive! I have a feeling that you will get into most of your top school!

And thank you for your reply in my thread. It’s really helpful.

Your scores are impressive. Your extracurriculars are impressive.
In my opinion, you are guaranteed Berkeley and UCLA, and Cornell.
Standford and the rest you should write killer essays and hope! Its definitely possible but the others I mentioned should be guaranteed with your stats.

“You are guaranteed at Berkeley, UCLA and Cornell.”

This is the problem with chance threads… people who have no idea what they are talking about think they can accurately assess whether someone will be admitted to a highly selective school or not. The word “guaranteed” should never be used when chancing someone for such schools; it gives the OP a false sense of confidence.

umm if you didn’t read I said in my opinion before. Which means I believe it will happen. You don’t have to believe but with stats like that I’ve seen it happen every single time. So I’ll change my response from guaranteed to most likely
But in my opinion you’re on the right track

Bump 10charr

Stanford - You do have chances, but “high reach”. You know the adcoms can be random.
UCBerkeley - High match / Low reach
UPenn (Wharton) - Same with Stanford.
MIT - Same as above.
Harvard - Same as Stanford.
Columbia - Same as Stanford.
UCLA - Low Match / High Safety.
Cornell - mid/ high match.

You should def look in to NYU, UChicago, and Duke…? lol

Please chance back!
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1169343-chance-me-please-macalester-oberlin-kenyon-gwu-american.html</a></p>

UW GPA is pretty low. Your school doesn’t rank, but are there percentiles? Like top 10%, etc.? Or if they aren’t official, could you tell us about where you stand compared to your classmates? Are you at the very tippy top of the class? A bit above average? Somewhere towards the middle?

Unofficially, I would think I’m at least in the top 10% - if not top 5% (not trying to be cocky or anything).

nope not cocky at all. lol. not with this crowd. but yeah, that helps your chances.

Ugh just got my IB results… 7/7 in Math but 5/7 in French =S

Stanford: Reach
UCBerkeley: High match
UPenn (Wharton)
MIT: H Reach
Harvard: H Reach
Columbia: Mid Reach
UCLA: Match
Cornell: High Match
Princeton: Reach

No offense but your college choices are very typical for an asian applicant. UCs and Ivies. Try some LACs and other good schools.

OH and congrats on your 7/7 on math. I got a 5 on that test, but math isn’t my strongest subject

Definitely write an essay on your music. That’s impressive.
Maybe retake the SAT or take the ACT?

Stanford - reach
UCBerkeley - match
UPenn (Wharton) - reach to high reach
MIT - high reach
Harvard - high reach
Columbia - reach
UCLA - low match
Cornell - match
Princeton - high reach

I’m assuming you didn’t list your safeties…

Chance me back please  http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1173726-chance-me-stanford-mit-u-penn-berkeley-others-will-chance-back.html</a></p>

@karaokemachine Yea my safeties are mostly the Canadian universities I’m applying for. Is my SAT I really that bad? lol. I also chanced you back =)

bt-
You should apply for FA, your family shouldn’t allocate 50% of their resources on your education, unless your income is 100K after taxes.

@Batllo - They’ve been saving up since I was a little kid, as my mom herself wanted to go to a US university but didn’t. Also, I might apply F/A to a few of the schools on the list (but not all of them).
