I'm 16. Spent 8th-11th grade at a small private school in Japan (father's job). Before that lived in six different countries, in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. Going to a big public school in Florida my senior year (where we're from originally). </p>

Will apply for financial aid: Definitely. </p>

GPA - Weighted: old school didn't weight, but in 11th grade I took all IB Y1 classes which will be weighted at my new school (approx same weight as APs)</p>

<p>I'm hoping that my international background, fantastic references, and the potential for a very good essay will make up for my less-than-stellar stats. what do you think? I would love to go to NYU. thank you!</p>

<p>I’d say decent shot at NYU, but not good shot at getting much aid. UNC has decent aid but is a reach being OOS.</p>

<p>Have you taken any SAT IIs? You may want to consider retaking the ACT/SAT I.</p>

<p>and Spatula, I plan on taking World History and Japanese SAT II’s this year. I got 670 on a practice Japanese test and I’m pretty good at history? hahaa. and also I will retake both the SAT and ACT… unfortunatelyyyy</p>

<p>Just a note, I forgot to mention in the original post, I took the AP World History exam last year without taking the class and got a 4.</p>
