Chance an international seeking a full ride

Dude, I don’t know. You have the numbers to get in, but when you’re competing with that many people for a handful of spots, it’s hard.

I’m an international student on financial aid and I got into Reed in the RD round. I didn’t apply ED as Reed was my joint top choice with another school. I had slightly higher test scores than you and much lower grades. The reason I was admitted, I think, is that my Why Reed? essay was honest, serious and specific.

Work on your essays and good luck.

@Ghostt - Thanks, that helped a lot. I will work on my essays. There’s something about Reed that appeals to me greatly.

Also, is there really a drug culture at Reed or is it just plain hearsay?

Just out of curiosity, what was your other top choice school?

Yes, there is a drug culture at Reed like there is at many other places. You can avoid it entirely for the duration of your time at Reed if you so wish, even if you’re friends with people who use drugs. Reed students are for the most part non-judgemental and respectful of other people’s personal boundaries, so your choice to do or not to do drugs shouldn’t affect your social opportunities.

My other top choice was UChicago, where I was waitlisted and withdrew to deposit at Reed.

@Ghostt - Thanks for the heads-up. I’m really hoping I get in.

Also, what is the overall academic program like? Is it as rigorous as portrayed everywhere?

Yes.
