( actually the academic system in India is different, but when my school converted it, I got a 4.0)
School doesn't rank , but am in the First decile

Taught Mathematics and Physics to underprivileged 8th graders in my school's social service program
Total volunteering must be more than 300 hours

Quiz: Vice-Captain of my school's quiz team. Won a number of quizzes

Creative writing : Won a number of competitions in the school level

Shadowing doctors in a big research hospital

Random:
Participant in a few MUN's
An average piano player

Won a few academic awards ( mostly at the school/state level) through high school

Recommendations: All of them are really good !

Chance me for :
JHU ( BME ) ED,
Duke,
Cornell
UPenn
Brown
U Michigan Ann Arbor
UC Berkeley
MIT
Stanford
U of Rochester
Washinton University at St. Louis

Well, if I can get in JHU BME early, then I wont have to bother with the other schools in the first place!

Oh, and I am also sending in an additional letter of recommendation from the dentist who I volunteered under at the charity clinic

bump! anyone?

Enjoy JHU you are in no question!

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1231725-yale-scea-chance-will-chance-back.html</a></p>

JHU is ok, but the BME major in JHU is very difficult to get into ! Only 100 per year get selected, did you count that in when you chanced me ? Oh and I already chanced you back !

I think for the most part you’re an extremely strong candidate for all the schools. But for schools like Standford, Brown, MIT, UPenn it’s always hard to say.

I think you have a pretty good chance at JHU

I am not keeping my hopes up for MIT , Stanford at least ! My parents told me to apply so I’m applying ! I really want to do Bio Medical Engineering and JHU is the best there is . I hope I get in ! Thanks for the chance ! Anyone else?

I think you have to understand that international students dont have it as easy as Americans do when it comes to colleges. My cousin had decent stats, and coming from India, the best she could get into was NYU (I know thats not awful) but the schools youre aiming for arent all internations student friendly. Keep that in mind.

Duke- high target
Cornell- high target
UPenn- low reach
Brown- high target
U Michigan Ann Arbor- in
UC Berkeley - low reach
MIT- high reach
Stanford - mid reach
U of Rochester - in
Washinton University at St. Louis- in

Also, could you please chance my individual colleges like i did for you? : http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1233558-my-story-will-my-dream-schools-understand-2.html</a></p>

I think You have a great Chance for Ed at jhu. If they donT take you WHO would they take. Congratulations on all your hard work.

Perfect GPA, near perfect SAT, amazing ECs. I think you are definitely in JHU, even for BME program. Good luck!

Chance me back please. (:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1241354-decent-gpa-high-sat-1-weak-ecs.html</a></p>

Everything looks great on paper, esp gpa and SAT.
JHU is a target/match for sure, but I’m not too clear on BME. Even so, JHU without BME is an amazing school. Nonetheless, your ECS, such as shadowing doctors, really fit your intended major.

Getting into the Ivy League schools is always incredibly hard. Sometimes even the kids with the highest SAT scores don’t get accepted. You are a pretty high candidate for most of those schools however, like already mentioned, the fact that you are an international applicant already lowers your chances. And nowadays you scores and EC’s, even though they are incredibly good, are at the same level as quite a few other people. Really the only thing that you have to make sure you ace are you essays. Other than that, you have a “strong” chance of being accepted. (Remember: just because you have those grades and EC’s doesn’t necessarily mean you are in)

You will encounter 2 problems
Indian male and international applicant

are you applying for FA?
if yes, almost all the colleges on your list will be reach or high reach schools

i will chance you (assuming that you are not applying for FA)

Duke, Penn, Brown, MIT and Stanford: Reach (admit rate less than 5% if you dont have any hook)

JHU BME: reach

Cornell, Wash U: solid chances
Michigan, UCB: good chances

U of Rochester: no idea

you will get into some great colleges…

good luck to you

Great numbers of course, but you’re missing the national/international awards you would need for a really good shot at MIT and Stanford.
