Hey, my friend is applying to Cornell CAS and Cornell CALS from Italy. We were just wondering what her chances were:

She's coming from an international private Ivy-feeder school.

She's taking all IB courses. Her HS academic record isn't too well, and I don't really know her grades, but lets assume her gpa is around 3.5

Her SATs were high: 1580 (taken twice). She's been through a lot, moved 3 times, lived through a war-zone as well.

Are her SATs high enough to compete against the typical interntaional group?

compare her to students from her class. If everyone has 1580, then her chances are slim, but otherwise, assuming the 1580 is out of 1600, her cances are good.

yeah its 1580/1600. but since shes international, isn't there like TONS of internationals applying and only a few spots reserved for them? i know cornell represents over 150 contries, but thats because they only take like 1 person per country, and that's quite small...

they take a lot from hong kong, china, and korea...not just 1

but being from italy will definitely make her more unique!
