Chance an international student!

Hello I am an international student studying in Europe applying to major in statistics or applied mathematics
I would really appreciate it if you could chance me since I am very worried...
I just hope I could get into at least one of the universities which I applied C:

Stats:

SAT1: CR=550 M=740 WT=700 TOTAL=1990 (Essay=9) (Kind of low..)
SAT2: MathIIC=780 Literature=670 (weird how my literature score is higher than my CR..)
ACT: English = 27 Reading=23 Math=35 Science=27 Composite=28
TOEFL: Reading=26 Listening=29 Speaking=26 Writing=29 Total=110 (Out of 120)

In school, I am a full IB diploma student..
IB A1 German High = 7
IB A2 English High = 6
IB History Standard = 6
IB Psychology Standard = 7
IB Chemistry Standard = 5
IB Math High = 7

I am planning to take these tests on June, 2012 along with AP Statistics

Honors:

2golds and 2 silvers from an international math competition

Applied School List:
UC Berkeley
UCLA
Emory
NYU
UNC Chapel Hill
Michigan - Ann Harbor
Georgetown
Georgia Tech

Your test scores might me a bit low for Georgetown and UC Bekeley. However, considering the fact that you’re an international and you have great math scored, as long as you have great essays and letters of recommendations I think you still have good chances.

UCLA, Georgia Tech, Michigan and Emory are still small reaches.

NYU: it depends what school you applied to. If you applied to CAS then match, Stern and Tisch are definitely targets.

As for the rest, I would say matches.

Did you apply early to any of those? It increases your chances, people say it doesn’t but it really does.

Thanks for chancing me :D:D
Well I am applying to CAS so hopefully I get accepted :)

and no unfortunately I did not get a chance to apply early… even though I was plannin on it :(

Thanks again!! :P

Hey, we have very similar scores on the SAT and the TOEFL! I have 10 points better on the SAT and you have 1 point better on the TOEFL :stuck_out_tongue: Where are you from?

I agree with applefan123’s thoughts.

Chance me please! http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1268956-chance-international.html</a></p>

I am not so different from you either.

Chance me please : http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1268273-chance-french-student-please.html</a></p>

Disregard what the other posters have said.

It’s clear that they weren’t observant enough to deduce that English is obviously not your first language.

Luckily for you, adcoms are smarter than “applefan123”. The above poster also does not understand what exactly an IB diploma is and the 40/45 should definitely make you stand out from a generic pool of AP applicants.

I wouldn’t say your’e a match for UCB, Mich and GT- but you have more than a shot at all of them. Btw do not send the ACT.

I agree with framed. Your IB scores are great, you have a great shot at most of those colleges.

Dear “Framed”, if only you were smart enough to know how to read you would not have wasted your time to write a useless post …

You’re telling him he has “good chances”, I did the same thing however I also told him where and why he had more or less chances, which is what he is looking for.

Berkeley is definitely a reach for everyone, UCLA, Georgetown, Georgia Tech and Emory are getting more and more applications from international students and they tend to look for score above 2050-2100 (which is very close from what he got).

Indeed, I do not anything about IBs which is why I didn’t talk about it, but if you say 40/45 is really good then I guess it even makes your chances bigger.

Anyway, lilangel8, good luck!

applefan123 your above post if defunct since the reason I suggested that the OP disregard your post is because you did not take into account that English was not their first language.
This significantly increases ones chances for acceptance along with the IB scores. Georgia Tech and UCLA are not reaches to be honest.

GT (Georgetown) and Cal are though.
