Chance An international to UPitt...

Hi! I have already apply to some colleges, and now I am thinking (actually I'm pretty sure) apllying to the UPitt. I'm interested in neuroscience (not for pre-med or something).
So what do you thinks are my chances of getting in. Is it hard for internationals to get accepted. In an other thread, I have been told that public universities want international students because of 1)diversity and 2)paying full tuition (no FA).
So...

Thank you!

From UPitt website:

Why are you not applying to Ivies/top schools with need-blind/need-aware admission policies? What other schools are you applying to? You have the stats… Your ECs seem good…
Considering

OP is suggesting that he/she does not need FA. Universities like UPitt are a good choice; publics are often looking for full-pays right now. At a need-blind institution, the full-pay applicant loses his advantage. The OP’s CR score is low for Ivies.

Well, I am also applying to
Dartmouth (I know reach)
Middlebury EDII (also reach)
Oberlin
Grinnell
Colby
F&M
To all these I apply for a partial FA
And to UW-Madison and UPitt (of course without aid)

I think my list is really divesred… High reaches, matches and maybe some kinda of low matches - safeties…

Anyway I will like an evaluation about Pitt… do you know the acceptance rate or the average profile of the international applicants admitted to UPitt?
:-)

Anyone else?
I really don’t know the UPitt’s acceptance rate for international students?
Some say that, as I can pay full cost, it is definitely a safety…
Others say that it can be a low reach, as neuroscience is a pretty popular major in Pitt.
However, this year it is estimated that much fewer internationnal (and also domestic) students will aplly without aid to US colleges?

Anyone?

I would say your in at uppity. Goodluck can u please chance me back

Ow, my bad, didn’t know you weren’t applying for aid!
But still, you should definately have applied to like all Ivies… If your essay was good, you would have gotten into atleast one I think.

Chance back please! http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1062868-chance-swede-wharton-harvard-yale-etc.html

I am applying for a “small” FA to the LAC’s which are expensive.
I am NOT applying (actually I can NOT) to UPitt and UW-Madison.

You can calculate the average cost of the LAC’s then substract the cost of the public universities that I apply and you’ll see that FA that I am asking for is not that big. So, I hope (based on this fact) that my chances won’t get hurt that much.

So, any evaluation… you know: reach, match…

bump… bump…

bump again…

C’mon… I can’t believe that all here are ignorants about UPitt…
It’s just one school… not that hard to post a chance…

definitely have a chance, i have not heard any disadvantages for international students and i live in pittsburgh. i think it might even be a safety with your scores, but you should still consider doing pre med if you’re interested in sciences, pitt has a great medical program and upmc is a great hospital. best of luck and please chance back!

You will almost certainly get into Pitt. Their admissions office does not put internationals in a separate pool as far as I know. However, as you seem to be aware, I don’t believe you’d be eligible for merit/financial awards as an international. Pitt is a fantastic choice for undergraduate neuroscience.

BTW, Pitt’s medical center operates ISMETT in Sicily, which is sort of in your neck of the woods being in the Mediterranean.

Thank you…
Well, I know that Pitt is really good in neuroscience (and very high in rankings for the particular major) so do you think that this makes things more challenging. I mean based on the fact that Pitt’s neuroscience is very good (=>very selective), do I have a chance. Not general in Pitt, but in Pitt’s neuroscience. Just for the record, I am not intereste in pre-med.
