<p>My common essay will be very whimsical and lighthearted, and will focus on my love for science and art. My supplementaries will usually deal with my troubled childhood [divorce at young age, welfare child, mom going to jail for assaulting dad, anger problems, new dad etc.] and how I dealt with that.</p>

<p>You have a strong shot. The first list you’re in at.
Second list: Brown Cornell Upenn are reaches, Chicago is dependent a lot on essays I’d say and WashU is more of a match
Reach at your third list.
I think your art will help you a lot. Submitting the Art supplement to the schools should give you that edge and hopefully get you in to your top choice!</p>
<p>Your high rank in a top 20 school will be very helpful. Grade/score wise you’re absolutely set for HYPS and everything else. So that leaves EC’s, which seem to break away from the science/math Asian stereotype in your case. I’d tell you to focus on art and back away from science just to set yourself apart, but if you’re passionate about both, then write whatever you want as long as it’s spectacular. </p>

<p>You’ll probably get into all of those, everything else is a toss-up. Great grades and scores, but your EC’s are a little weak for the others. You have a shot though.</p>
<p>UChicago loves quirky artsy people like you I’d say you have a pretty good shot there- your M/R scores are fantastic, and 2290 overall is veryy good, definitely in their range.
HYPS is going to be a little bit more of a reach…but I still think you have a good shot. The top 20 thing will help a LOT and if you write good essays you’ll get into at least one of those top top schools.</p>
