Chance an OOS thats applied?

Well I’ll give an overall background of myself and what my stats are looking like.

Well I go to a community college in Connecticut majoring in Nuclear Engineering Technology that is ABET accredited. Currently without this semester’s grades, I have a 3.54 GPA. In high school, I graduated 3rd in my class.

Some awards that I have won:
Six Sigma Advanced Blue Belt certified (2011)
Dominion scholarship (2010-Present)
Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society member (2010-Present)
Magna Cum Laude (2010)
Member and Secretary of the National Honor Society (2008-2010)
Perfect attendance (2006-2010)
Winchester Memorial scholarship (2010)
SkillsUSA Leadership (2008)

I was a volunteer for the Red Cross in high school and contributed only about 80 hours worth of community service because I was already working.

My required essays are short and to the point. One of the optional essays about hardships was a perfect topic for me. Since I was 16, I was deemed an unaccompanied youth and have been living on my own without support. I was able to graduate 3rd in my class, 4 years of perfect attendance, and other awards while dealing with the stress and emotions of not having support and “house surfing.”

I’m currently employed by Dominion, which operates a nuclear power plant in Connecticut where I am employed as a Nuclear Technical Specialist. Before this position, I was on a paid internship in the engineering department because of my scholarship and was hired shortly after the internship period was over. I’ve been employed as a full time and part time employee since I was 16. (Only 3 years)

I don’t have much at my disposal at a “great chance” of being accepted since I don’t have the 3.7-4.0 GPA and that I am an out of state student. Hopefully that my optional essay and work experience will help me out here.

I was auto-accepted into Texas Tech without even having to submit my final semester grades which I thought was strange.

Well that’s a pretty good explanation of what I’m all about and hopefully I may get lucky!

Best of luck to everyone!

(What chances might you think I have of being accepted?)

So you are applying as a transfer? If so, you should have no worries.

Thats great to hear!

Now I have another question, how does the housing work if I wanted to live off campus? Like paying rent and such things. Do I have to have the money up front? I’m glad it looks like apartments only cost ~400$ because where I live I’m paying $1000-$1200 with utilities.

Check out offcampus.osu.edu[/url”>http://offcampus.osu.edu/]offcampus.osu.edu for info on off campus housing. People will be looking for off-campus housing for next year about now although it seems there is always something/somewhere available if look enough even later.

Thank you for the link!

I’m in a dilemma about housing now. I would be coming from Connecticut with my stuff and my motorcycle. They have dorms that are designated for year round right? I figured I would like to have the experience of living on campus.

What are some of the better year round on campus housing locations? I don’t mind paying the extra money or anything of that sort because I just can’t travel back to Connecticut for the breaks.

Also, I wouldn’t be visiting the campus until March of 2012 because that is when my spring break is and I’m requesting work off.

Thanks again!

Okay- here’s the link for on-campus housing- [University Residences and Dining Services](<a href=“Page Not Found : Housing and Residence Education”>http://urds.osu.edu/) Check out the residence hall and room search tabs to get detailed info.

My son’s an engineer and liked the convenience of North Campus because of its proximity to his classes and High Street. However, he was in a quad and it was unbelievably crowded. The upperclassmen dorms are nicer IMO and several have been recently renovated. However, you need to complete a housing contract as soon as possible because housing fills up fast.

I’m not sure which dorms are open all year but if you call/email the housing office, they are very nice and can give you the most up-to-date info.
