[/ul]General Comments: I know a lot of people say Syracuse is an easy school to get into or w/e, but the architecture program is now No. 2 in the nation, so I know that can't be the case for the SOA.

I'm gonna die here. Is that C on my first-semester transcript gonna kill me?

chill out. you’re, without a doubt, going to get in.

i like how you got the same overall score on the SAT =P

your sister being an alumni is good too.

your gpa is great. dont overreact.

you’re in!

and for the C, dont sweat it. its not a big deal. its not an F.

and are you taking any architecture courses at your high school? i know ALOT of people who regret doing it.

"chill out. you’re, without a doubt, going to get in.

you’re in!"

Dude, from what I understand, you’re trying to get in as well so I don’t think you’re in any position to chance anybody. The architecture school is really tough to get into so I wouldn’t tell someone that they’re an automatic shoe-in.

akmeecheen, your sis being an alumna of the school has no bearing on admissions. Your EC are solid and your grades are solid. I’d say you do have a high chance but don’t count on anything. Good luck.

HoL: apparently, unlike other schools, Syracuse does consider sibling affiliation in legacy admissions; no idea if that applicant has to apply ED though (as at some others)…

HOL, calm down. i just found out in his general comments box that its rated 2nd in the nation before doing this. I thought it was moderately competitive.

After finding out it was a competitive program, i don’t think hes a shoe in, but he definently has a really big chance of acceptance.

& if you look on the 2nd page of the SU common app supplement,
http://www.syr.edu/futurestudents/undergraduate/pdfs/ca_2010supp.pdf

it says “Are your parents, grandparents, or siblings SU alumni or current SU students?”

i know that because i was told in a Fordham Interview that i should include my sister as a reference to the relations at the the school and that its important.

whew… Thanks guys, I feel a little more reassured. If you guys wanna chance me for some other schools I’m applying to, my list is:
Cooper Union(hahaha…)
Carnegie Mellon
USC
Cal Poly SLO
RISD
Those are my B.Arch schools. I’m applying to some other programs IN CASE I’m not accepted to any of those:
Brown(funny how this is an “in-case school” huh? :P)
UCLA
UC Berkeley
Washington University at St. Louis
^^ Those four schools were really just to appease my horribly paranoid mother…

When it comes to siblings it may be a good or bad thing to me. I’ve heard of schools that look at the siblings performance and use that to judge the sibling trying to come in. Meaning if a brother is doing well at X institution then they are more likely to think you will do well and vice versa. I don’t think it’s good practice and I’m not sure if SU does so as well.

well… I can’t complain there. As far as I know my sister is doing very well there.
