Chance an SFS hopeful?

Hey guys, I'm a rising senior, and I'm really interested in international relations, and SFS would be a dream school for me, but I'm getting lots of mixed opinions from friends regarding whether or not I have a chance. My courseload has been generally good, basically everything that wasn't AP was honors, but for Georgetown, it's pretty weak (only 3 APs so far), and my GPA is pretty low due to freshman/sophomore slacking, though I do have a HUGE upward trend if that helps. Let me know what you guys think!

Middle Eastern male, school doesn't rank, but top 10-15%, very competitive high school, in the top 30 in the nation, famous for grade deflation.

Honors:
-Maryland Commended Scholar

-German language diploma (this would let me study at German universities)
-Black belt in Taekwondo (though I got this before high school so I don't know if it counts)

Internships:
-Internship at Global Media Trail, foreign media analysis company
-Internship at Radio Free Europe, contributed significantly to (name will also be published on it) a think-tank presentation/report for foreign policy makers regarding the threat of Islamist militancy in Central Asia

So yeah, as you can see, International Relations is and has been my dream field of study for quite a while. I'm applying to the big 3 DC schools since they all have great IR programs, though SFS is really my dream and the fact that it's in DC just makes it that much better for international relations.

Thanks to anybody who took the time to read all this!

Hey hey hey I’m Persian too! And our stats are pretty similar except I just started my junior year and I am taking 4 AP’s this year (1 last year) You should apply EA and I think you have a pretty good shot! Let me know how it goes! Best of luck!

lol inshallah ye chand saale digeh sare kelaas bebinamet. I’m definitely applying early action, getting waitlisted since they don’t reject EA, and then I’m hoping my semester grades can push it over the edge.

anyone else?

Obviously I have no idea, but it looks like you have a better chance than me. MY GPA is better and SAT is slightly better (Georgetown doesn’t consider the writing, hate to break it to you but that 800s not gonna do you any good.) I’d probably say you’re in if you write good essays. I’ll only have three AP’s taken by the time I graduate, and the admissions officer said it wouldn’t kill my application. By the way, you should definitely get a reccomendation letter from the Congressman.

With top schools like Georgetown, its always hard to tell due to the total number of qualified applicants. Having said that, you definitely fit the profile of the SFS students I know and you don’t seem to have any glaring holes in your application. Good luck!

thanks, guys! and yes, HUGE bummer that most of my schools won’t look at my writing score.
but I just got my act scores back and I got a 33, does that change anything?
any other opinions?

got my SATs back, 760 CR and 720 Math. hopefully this helps? should I still send my ACT score?

bump? anyone?

You have to send all test scores. But I would send it anyway. You have a great shot. Your last SAT and ACT will get you in imo (long as sat2s are decent). I am Jordanian. Best of luck to you.

And if you are intelligently fluent in those languages, consider it a quasi-done deal.
