You are a competitive applicant. Just apply and give it a shot. It seems to me that you are quite confident about your candidacy to Duke because you stated that all your rec letters are “GLOWING”, you were a “GRAND PRIZE winner” for the national student writing competition, you have written “AMAZING” essays, and you supposedly had one of the most prestigious internships in the world. So I don’t understand why you are asking if you feel you are qualified to Duke… it comes off more as bragging than as a genuine interest in your chances. That’s probably why no one responded to your chances thread.

Ensure that you don’t come off as bragging on the application; focus on the 2-3 activities that were the most important to you and don’t just give them a laundry list of activities. They will NOT be impressed by such a laundry list; they receive too many of those. And yes, it will be helpful if you get your test scores up a little bit, but you are definitely within the range. Regardless, getting into Duke these days is a crapshoot for anybody; you will need a lot of luck as well.

Don’t listen to him^; he’s obviously jealous. ;)

I think you have a great shot a Duke. Just study hard to get that SAT score up and I bet you’re in!

I’m a current junior at Duke. I was just put off by the way the OP put everything in all caps and went about posting her achievements. The post, to me, had this tone that the OP was the best thing since sliced bread. Nevertheless, I understand that it likely wasn’t intentional, so I overreacted bit. I apologize for coming off a bit harsh, but it is important to not be overzealous about yourself in the application to Duke… doing so will hurt your chances. Be passionate about what you do in your essays, but be sure your app doesn’t come off as showing off. It’s a very fine line to walk.

Good luck to both of you.

Wow, you beat Harvard students?
