ACT: 29
SAT: 1800 (Won't submit)
SAT II: US-670 Chem-640 (Still waiting for October scores)

I know my scores are poor compared to everyone on here, but my school profile will show that my test scores are way above average compared to my classmates (11 points higher on the ACT, 600 points on SAT).

I am applying to:
American Claremont McKenna SUNY Stonybrook
Amherst (maybe) Duke Yale (SCEA)
Bates George Washington
Brown Middlebury
Bowdoin Pitzer
Columbia Pomona

I known I am a long shot (especially for Yale), but I want people's opinions because I'm scared I of being denied everywhere. Also, what would be a good match for me if I am interested in pursuing environmental studies? My family income in below $40,000 so I would need a school with give great financial aid.

Thanks for everyone who gives any reply.

This is a tough one, although I’m almost sure you won’t be denied everywhere and probably could get some good scholarship money. The fact that you are Hispanic and perform better than your peers could help you out (perhaps showing that your school does not prepare people well for the SAT, yet you were able to rise above this and get an okay score/good grades). Your ECs are pretty good, I’m not really sure what your awards are for but they look impressive. Yale is definitely a long shot–I’d try and retake the SAT if you are serious about this, definitely need at LEAST over a 2000. Good luck with everything!

My awards are mostly all for my research project. And although I know I would need at least a 2000, I’m not gonna do a retake. A 29 on the ACT I saw someone was equivalent to a 1950-2030 I think. I’m guessing most colleges will see that as a 1950, not a 2030?

I would be surprised if you didn’t get into any of those schools my only advice is APPLY for many scholarships you will need them

Chance me here

–BUMP–

Anyone else?

I think you definitely have the means to get into a great college, and I’m pretty positive that you won’t be rejected everywhere. My “stats” are pretty similar to yours. I definitely need to retake the SAT, but don’t worry about it too much. Just study hard and have faith. Things will work out. :)

Thanks Tawnya =]

Can anyone else put their two cents in, and maybe give me an idea of my chances for some of the schools are? I know a lot are reaches, but I rather brace for the worst now lol.
