CHANCE and I'll chance back!

What would be the chances if a certified Native American (caucasian but she has native blood and is certified) applied early action to Harvard? She has a 3.5UW GPA but a 4+ weighted. She took 6 AP's: AP English, AP Lit, AP Gov, AP Stats, AP Spanish, and AP Art. She has around a 2300 GPA. She would major in psychology with pre-med requisites. She is a writer and artist who has won art and writing awards. She is an anti-bullying activist with a successful online Q&A community for teens in need of social advice.
She runs track and she has worked, since freshman year, at a grocery store cashiering. She has around 700+ community service hours-- she volunteers at a soup kitchen and a nursing home. She is the founder and editor of her school newspaper and the editor of her school lit magazine.
Obviously her grades are not stellar, but she has a lot to offer that other students do not.

The Ivies love Native Americans. With a 2300 SAT, the 3.5 GPA won’t be a problem. Remember she needs two SAT subject tests, also. Assuming those are 700 plus, I’d predict a Yes.

Thanks I hope so!

bump???

See post #2. fauve is a senior member of CC and a Harvard graduate. I would take her word for it over one hundred other 17-year olds who are in the middle of the college applications process themselves. You have your answer . . . and it’s a good one!

you may be one of those who go to the admissions comittee after getting a split decision, but overall looks like youre a go. Chance me for harvard on my thread called where can i get full rides?

Thanks Gibby and Fauve!! So not taking AP Calc or an AP science isn’t a problem?

Obviously, a more rigorous curriculum is always a plus. If she has demonstrated math competency in the SAT and subject tests, hopefully that will be enough. There are no guarantees. Will the recommendations be superb, character-wise?

Six AP’s is plenty! And FWIW, unless a student goes “Advanced Standing” (graduating in less than 4 years) the only AP that Harvard gives credit for is AP Foreign Language: [Language Requirement](http://static.fas.harvard.edu/registrar/ugrad_handbook/current/chapter2/language_requirement.html)

Okay thanks! I’ll still check to see if I can take AP calc. If not, I’ll just take honors calc and AP stats.

I am currently taking precalc. Is that still not good/do I need calc?

easy for her are you kidding dont even worry bro…

Thanks! bump?

Again, I don’t understand why you are bumping. What more confirmation do you want to hear?

:) thanks Gibs

I just realized my GPA is a heck of a lot lower than I thought :frowning: My school inflates GPA’s. I would have around a 3.8W GPA when applying.
