Chance as FSU?

Hello all,

Just wondering what my son’s chances at FSU would be with these credentials:

9 total AP classes

4 Math (2 will be AP - 2 honors)
4 SS/History (2 AP - 2 honors)
7 Science (4 AP - 3 honors)
4 English (4 Honors)
4 Spanish (1 AP - 3 honors)
Physical Education - 4 years
Oral Communications (elective)
Foundations of Technology (elective)

AP Classes were/will be:

AP (all As or better):

Statistics
Physics I
Physics C
US History
Biology

AP - (will take Senior Year)

Enironmental Science
Economics
Spanish
Calculus BC

GPA 4.14 on a 4.33 scale Unweighted
GPA 7.12 on a 7.83 scale Weighted - (i know this means nothing)

SAT 1360 - took again this Saturday and will take again June 3.

Does FSU have their own GPA calculations like UF where they give you .5 for honors and 1.0 for AP? If so, he is at 4.647.

Class Council

Prospective Major: Engineering

He is out of state: Pennsylvania

High School stopped doing class rank but was 15 out of 300 as the time they stopped. Top 5%.

Not in band, choir, etc but is in a couple academic teams (Envirothon, Physics Olympics)

Thank you for looking.

Admission chances are strong and I would categorize FSU as a safety for him, and he should qualify for the OOS tuition waiver. Great to try to get the SAT up on next try just to be sure on the OOS tuition waiver as it is subject to change year to year.

His grades are excellent and so is the rigor of his course work, but it would definitely help if his SAT score went up. I think he has a high chance of acceptance because FSU isn’t too selective, and his GPA is above their average. Any reason he is interested in FSU? and has he considered UF?

He will apply to UF, FSU, UCF, and USF in Florida and Clemson in SC.

Yeah, I don’t think that acceptance is really going to be the issue. He should be fine.

I think he is a strong candidate all of the the schools you listed.

Update - Received his June SAT scores - Superscore is now 1440
