Being that Yale was my first choice college and I was rejected I wanted to apply again as a transfer. My goal is to try to meet a transfer student and get some tips. I have read several admissions books written by admissions officers. So far I have a 4.0 GPA. Because I started this summer at UF I have to apply to Yale on the spring for a transfer. I will only be a freshman at this time. I am currently working on three majors at UF. Marketing, Poli Sci and Sociology. I had low SAT scores but have been studying and will retake in november and January if I have to. So far I have been at UF for a month and I am already Treasurer for our Area council, a rep on Model UN, part of a SIGHT womens orginization that also works mentouring kids. I will be valunteering soon at Shands, the hospital located here. I am also applying for the position in student government to be on the cabinet. I really need some help coming up with topics for an essay. My original SAT's were in the 500's range in each section. I also graduated 29th in high school. What are my chances? I hope to keep a 4.0 gpa here and score well enough on the SAT's. Any help?

I don't think you can do that. They admit all incoming transfers in the late spring; there isn't another round in the fall for midyear entrance.

Well actualy I am applying in the Spring for the fall of 2006-2007. Yale is very strict on how many credits you can transffer over. You have to have 2 or less years of credits wich is about 48 credits. I will have over a years completed by the end of my freshman year. If I apply in my sophmore year I will have to many and will be ineligible to transfer. What school are you transffering from?

AlienBlue2005,
Good for you, it sounds like you're making the most of your time at UF. It's hard to make a prediction about your chances of transferring to Yale because it is EXTREMELY difficult (not to discourage you). The numbers hover at about 20-25 acceptees in a pool of 750-800+ applicants. As an applicant for sophomore standing your high school grades and your SATs will play a greater role than for those applying for junior standing. You should try to get about a 700 for each section of the SATs and maintain a very high gpa. I'd also suggest that you establish strong relationships with professors. These relationships are important for excellent recommendations and possible internships.

Just as an update, I will not be volunteering at Shands becasue the postion was filled already. I will be working mostly with IMAGE (sorry, i originally nbamed it SIGHT) to get volunteer experiance. I dicided to apply for a Freshman Leadership postion instead of the Cabinet postion on student government.
