Chance At Acceptance?

<p>Ok, I told myself that I wasn't going to do a "chance me thread" but I guess I needed some input. So, what are my chances? I'll give some quick stats, if you have any more specific questions feel free to ask </p>

<p>Academic -
-ACT - 32.
-SAT not reported.
-GPA - 4.0 unweighted, school doesn't weight
-Class rank - 1/240
-Senior Schedule: Cross Country, AP English Lit, STEM Physics, World History 100/101, AP Calc AB, Organic Chemistry 100, Debate
-AP's: school doesn't have a ton, 5 on AP lang exam </p>

<p>EC -
-Captain of Policy Debate Team, all four years
-Co-captain of Cross Country Team, soph-senior year
-I cofounded and run a non-profit organization that coordinates soap recycling projects with local hotels
-National Honor Society
-Key Club, senior representative
-I do research (sponsored by Associate Professor at LA Tech University) on lithium-ion battery technology
-Head coached a local little league team
-JV Baseball, fresh-soph years
-Captain of Robotics Team</p>

<p>Awards -
-Academic All State Composite Cross Country Team
-2nd Place Engineering State Science Fair
-2nd Place overall regional science fair
-My School's Wendy's High School Heisman
-Rotary Club Student of the Month
-Couple other debate related ones </p>

<p>Application -
-Pretty good essays I think
-Two letter of rec, AP English Teacher and STEM Chem teacher
-Chemical Engineering
-No family affiliations with Rice
-Great interview</p>

<p>Extra -
-White Male
-From Louisiana
-Attended Explore Rice </p>

<p>i think you definitely have a chance due to your ACT score, class rank (#1!), ECs such as captain of debate team and research experience, and your very impressive awards :slight_smile: . and you said your application, including your essays, are good. and you’ve had an interview AND attended Explore Rice (i did attended as well, it was SUPER fun :))

<p>Rice is by far my first choice. I would have done ED but I was holding out so I’d have more time to improve ACT, get more awards, etc. I also didn’t want to have to turn down acceptance because of an insufficient financial aid offer</p>

<p>Your stats put you in range to get in. Try to see if your application can convey that Rice is your first choice. Good Luck!</p>

<p>Yeah, the yankees. I’m suffering from 6th grade e-mail choice judgement. But Rice did own Yankee Stadium for a while! </p>

<p>You sound like you have a pretty good chance of getting in. I applied early decision and got in and you have a lot more ec’s than me… Part of that is I go to a small school though :frowning: I hope to see you there next year! Good luck!</p>
