I would like to know my chances at getting into and receiving scholarships at UF.
I'm a junior who lives in Florida. I have a 4.25 weighted GPA, and will graduate with 6 AP classes (APUSH, Lang, Lit, Gov, Microeconomics, & Stats). I have received school awards in Chorus, English, and an overall grade level award (9th), as well as a PRIDE award from the local chamber of commerce. I'm currently 10th in my class. My ACT is a 28 and I have an 1810 for my SAT (730 CR, 540 Math, 540 Writing. I plan to retake it in the fall). I have been a part of the Interact Club (1 year), joined Thespians this year, played soccer for 2 years, and actively participated in a high school level band at my church for 3 years, earning 245 service hours.

You’re good. UF is not that hard to get into, so long as you have a couple AP/dual enrollment and a decent gpa. And the fact that you’re top ten will likely override any sat score.

UF isn’t that hard to get into? The average incoming freshman has a 4.3 GPA, 2000 SAT, 29 ACT.

OP, I think you need to get the math score on your SAT up some. You look good everywhere else. UF is unpredictable in admissions though, so nobody is a “lock.” Good luck.

UF is nobody’s safety school so just keep working hard, write an awesome essay that “tells them about you as a person” (per the admin that we talked to) and apply to other schools that you will love --just in case. My son was admitted (#6 in his class of 450, great scores, high GPA and super ECs with leadership positions) but there were kids in his class with similar who did not make it.
As for scholarships - UF doesn’t give much! You need to be at the very top of your class and/or first generation college to get any money. Look for private scholarships to help make it manageable. USF and UCF give more $$.

Your stats are a lot like mine were… Same GPA, same amount of EC’s, similar scores. Here are some things that may help you. I’m a graduated senior, accepted to UF for the class of 2017.

Make sure your essays are good. I had great essays, and for all I know, that may be what pushed me over the edge.

As others said, get your math and writing scores up, especially the math. Learn the format for the essay and just study hard for the math portion. Don’t even worry about reading.

Spend a lot of time making your application perfect. Start very early, around August, so that you give yourself plenty of time and aren’t stressing to make deadlines.

On an unrelated note - the earlier you apply, the earlier you can put your $25 down payment on housing. This is very useful since I know a lot of people who didn’t apply for housing until later and ended up with bad dorms or no dorm at all. I applied really early, and got first choice at my dorm, which was amazing.

Thanks everyone! My dad went to college but not my mom (so I’d be the first woman to go to college, schools probably don’t care about that). And I was surprised by the writing (my essay was a 7, which hurt the score) as I will definetly work on the math!

Where are you getting this info from ? According to CDS, the average is 1900 SAT.

I think I got that number on an informational booklet that was in the UF welcome center. To clarify, it didn’t say average, it said middle 50%. And it had a range which I can’t remember exactly what it was, but 2000 was within the range.

SAT 1967 ACT 30

Also, my understanding it is pretty difficult to get a scholarship at UF

Good link 2013cheer. 1967 and 2000 isn’t a major discrepancy. Also the 30 ACT was higher than my post where I thought it was a 29. Thanks for posting evidence to what I was trying to reproduce from memory.

From a woman I spoke to at the admissions office, the 25th to 75th percentile scores were:

1810-2070 for SAT
4.1-4.4 Reweighted UF GPA (She specifically said NOT 4.5)
27-31 ACT
