I don’t even know what to do with my life right now. I feel like I don’t have a good chance at all at UCLA or UCB for Fall 2016 . What do you think?
My stats:
Major: Chemical Engineering.
GPA: 3.7 overall
GPA:3.67 major classes (and I know for a fact that it won’t go lower but might get a little higher in the fall.Worst case it will stay the same.)
EC: Tutoring, participated in MESA and that’s pretty much it.
Work: 3 year experience in technical support and software/hardware troubleshooting
IGETC will be done in fall 2015.
My GPA is so low due to an unfortunate diagnoses during my fall which caused my grades to drop to B’s and for me to take a semester off to figure out health issues. But I bounced back up in summer and got all A’s in two 5 unit each core classes.I know I will do great in fall because I am a hard worker but as of right now, my GPA is a huge concern to me.
Don’t sugar coat it, do I even have a chance at all?
They will calculate your GPA as it stands by the end of the Fall, too, so you will have time to raise your GPA. I agree with the others, you should spend a large amount of time on your personal statements. Totally possible, but definitely apply to a couple of safety schools, just in case - TAG somewhere also, if you aren’t planning to already!
Thank you all for the responses! I am tagging with Davis and applying to Cal Poly Pomona, UCSB, UCSD, and most likely a few other schools just to be safe. But I have always wanted to go to UCLA so i’m trying my best to end up there. If anyone has any more advice, throw it my way.
Oh I also forgot to mention that I’ll be missing one class (C++) for UCLA. Well its a three class series in CC, but one class at UCLA from what I have been told. I won’t be missing any classes for UCB though!
