What do you think my chances at Colgate would be? I have ~3.7 GPA on a 4.0 scale, ~4.3 with weights, a 1320 Math + CR on my first shot (730 CR, 590 M), and a 2010 Total (690 W). Will probably increase to around 1370 Math + CR (730 CR, 640 M) with a total of ~2070 (700 W). By the end of highschool I will have taken 4 APs and almost all Honors (essentially the hardest classes offered with the exception of math where I am in honors but not AP). I have 8 clubs and activities, a few of which with leadership positions and all of which I've been involved with since freshmen year. I am a peer mentor and peer mediator, have done service hours, volunteer with children at the Little League and Boys and Girls Club, and am interning for the head judge in my county. I am taking the Lit and US History subject tests in June and will probably score in the mid 700s in both. I am a middle class white male.

I would like to major in English. I am a skilled writer (editor on the paper amongst other things), show a sincere interest in the school, and would be able to right a fairly impressive essay.

What are my chances Regular Decision?

Early?

I will chance back

I am not sure about Colgate at all but I would say that if you increased your SAT to 2100+ (1400+ M/CR) then you would have great chances of getting in.

With improved SAT score (if you can get the 2070 you’re aiming for or better), I think you’ve got it! Nail the subject tests. Get a glowing rec from your English teacher, if you have a good one that likes you and would speak to your skills as an English student. Obviously your chances are slightly improved if you apply early, but you have a really good chance either way.

Chance back! http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/923865-pretty-please-i-will-chance-back.html

I think you’re probably fine now, but if you could get that math up a bit it would help a lot. Your chances should be pretty good, your GPA is decent, and in hard classes, and your ECs seem good, the SAT Math is the only possible problem. If you could get a 620-670 you should be fine.

bump

thanks for the input thus far. looking for more

will chance back!

Yeah try to bring up the math, but it doesn’t matter as much because of what you plan to study. Your GPA is the average admission, as is your SAT score.
With a good essay (your strong suit) and some good recommendations you should be able to make it. Your GPA is the average admission, as is your SAT score.
