Also went to chinese school for twelve years on saturdays. I spend over 80 minutes driving to school and home everyday (traveling through 3+ cities each day) if that counts for anything. I also suffer from hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating in palms/feet) and debating if i should write my college essay on this topic.

Thanks for reading!

Well you wanted honesty then here it is =P
jk jk
Seriously though, don’t take it personally.

I’ve known a whole bunch of people who’ve gone to Duke and I knew their transcripts too so I’ll divide it up in different sections.

GPA: Unweighted is, honestly, quite weak. Your weighted, however, should be sufficient enough to make it as an average GPA student. I can understand your AP classes are hard as I myself am in IB. The GPA here shouldn’t really be an issue. Just work on getting your senior year 1st semester grades up to boost your GPA a bit.

Rank: Not the best but not the worst. Approximately around the top 10% is pretty good so you’re in the clear there with most of the competition around.

SAT I: I’ll be blunt, your chances here are pretty below average. Try to boost it to about 2050-2200 to at least make the average.

SAT II: Take subject tests, that’s all I’m going to say.

EC: This is probably your most strengthened part as it seems that you’re quite the athlete and really this is where you shouldn’t be too worried about.

That’s all I have to say. Good luck. =P

ok thanks for the input. Are the subject tests worth taking? I’m going to take the sat and act in october.

Definitely. If I’m not wrong, I believe Duke requires at least two and recommend three. Remember you can’t take the SAT I and the subject tests on the same day. I believe they accept late scores so that should be fine. Just don’t do it in like February. That’ll be too late.

I’m sorry but your GPA and SAT is low… you also lack leadership positions. If anything, try applying ED…Anyways, apply for the heck of it; you have nothing to lose (except for the application fee). After all, it is a once in a lifetime opportunity.
