SMU is one of my top choices and I was just wondering how my chances are for a big merit scholarship.

should be highly competitive, will say i am rusty of the conversion between sat and act as it has changed since i took it, but they look at only those with a 34 act or higher/ the equivalent for sat. With student body president on that list be sure to also apply for the hunt leadership scholarship as it is a great way to mitigate the cost as well.

Def apply for the Hunt Scholarship, it’s a great opportunity to see the campus for the scholarship weekend, and the perks of it are pretty nice.

The ACT conversion is a 34.

The Hunt Scholarship is not a full scholarship. Since the OP is a Texas resident, he would have to pay Texas in-state tuition plus room and board. Academic merit-based full ride scholarships (i.e., tuition and room and board) don’t exist at SMU, last I checked. Even if you received the full cost of tuition, you would still have to pay room, board, books, fees, and other costs. At SMU, that can be pretty hefty.

smu has a pres scholars program where everything is covered like i had a friend in it take 24 hours and he somehow got those extra hours covered - his room and board and books were covered too. He just had to buy them through the bookstore and they were charged to his account.

of note room and board is only covered when living on campus but thats not hard to do for four years
