Started up an organization online to raise money for charity through gaming. Raised over $500 for various charities.

Race: Indian (South Asian)

Whatcha guys think?

The only thing hurting your chances in my opinion is race. The amount of asians in Georgia is way disproportionate to the amount of asians at GA tech. Also, I don’t know if how they view service since its fudged so easily.

Sports raise your chances though, since they’re trying to move away from the “nerd” image.

Youtube is cool. Put it in the essay!

What do you think though? Will I most likely be accepted? I’m also doing a Intro to Computer Science class and another on Programming in C class over the summer.

While your SAT scores are pretty good in my opinion, I would lean from maybe to no. Someone reading your application isn’t zoning in on a particular thing, they’re looking at “you” as if it was someone they knew in real life. There’s nothing here really setting you apart from any other Indian male that loves tech stuff and the over all tone sounds like you only care about doing things for recognition.

For example, you list 150 service hours. You don’t even mention what you were doing most of the time- it doesn’t seem like whatever it is mattered to you, just a credential.

Tech wants creative, hardworking, and motivated people- and they want it to be genuine, not faked. For another example, if you’re going to list business, you need to bring it up again. If you just put down that you’re in business club, but your application doesn’t express any interest in business/entrepreneurship then it looks like you just did stuff to impress them. Same goes for the charity. Maybe you just wanted to keep ur post short, but not being genuine is the number one way not to get into a highly selective college. These people read thousands of applications per year, they know when people are feigning just to get in.

Stress things you really enjoy and why you enjoy them. There’s additional information for a reason.

Think of it as “you”, just you, getting accepted; not you beating other people to get accepted.

Since you’re an Asian male, I’m going to have to say maybe, but leaning on no. Average SAT score that was accepted this year was 2100, but that includes tons of girls, which have it wayyy easier than men. and your Asian, which is the hardest. Your gpa is also quite low. I’d go for at least a 2200 on SAT.

And you cant really look at the 50% acceptance rate. All tech schools have higher percentages because people going into them are more confident (IE, you don’t have random people applying, like all the ivies). Also, not a lot of people apply to tech because they know its a hard school, so they apply to UGA.
