Chance at Getting In?

Hey, I'm from one of the best prep schools in NYC and I really want to go to Cornell. I am also considering a few smaller D1 and D2 colleges for baseball but if I could get into any of the state colleges inside of Cornell I would be ecstatic. My mom went to Cornell and I would apply EA or ED, whichever Cornell has. Here are my current statistics.

GPA UW: 3.71
GPA W: 4.02

SAT:
Critical Reading: 630
Math:640
Writing:650

EC's:
Frosh: Irish Club, Business Club, Cooking Club
Football, Winter Track (Captain), Baseball
Soph: Irish Club, Business Club, Model UN, Cooking Club
Football, Winter Track (Captain), Baseball
Junior:Officer's Club, Irish Club, Model UN, National Honor Society Secretary
Fall Baseball, Winter Track (Captain), Baseball

AP's and Honors:
2 Ap's and 4 Honors (Im going to take at least 2 AP's senior year and 1 Honor)

Service:
My school requires 200 hours:
I went to Camden, NJ & Ecuador
I also worked at a local soup kitchen and with local kids at CCD (A class that kids take to learn more about god)

Job:
I work May through Oct. as a caddy and counselor at a local CC

Can anyone help a brotha out?

PS. I have not talked to the coach at Cornell because they are way to good for me.

It looks like it’s gonna be a challenge to get in. Raise your SAT scores. What is your rank? And Cornell is ED.

Not good. Such SAT scores would hurt you even if you go to an amazing high school and even if you apply ED to the contracts. Nothing stands out in your app either.

don’t listen to people on this BS site. Your EC’s make up for your SAT scores, which ALL THREE were higher than mine.

People on this site are incredibly nerdy and couldnt catch a cold, let alone a football.

You have better SAT scores than I did, a higher GPA than I did, I am a white male from a middle class family, and I got in.

write the very best essay you can and you’d have a good shot at ILR

…and yet you’re on this site yourself?

What annoys me is how several lucky underperforming or hooked individuals would expect everyone else who looks better on an app to get in. They don’t. Remember this is a game of chances, and we’re giving them chances. Even for ILR, these stats are really low.

With that said, I’d say you still have a shot at Cornell - just not a good one. I suggest that you talk to a coach.

Very slim chance
