Im am not the usual Harvey Mudd applicant and i know i am below average for my stats, but do i have a chance at Harvey Mudd.

3.9 UW
4.1 W

1890 SAT (720 on math)
Im taking the ACT will get 29-31 most likely, hoping for higher.

Sat 2
chem 710
math 640 (retaking and going up)

I play varsity baseball and basketball and i want to go there for CS.

I have a bunch of EC's and Community Service hours.

So please tell me if i have a chance there and anything about hte school, i dont know much about it besides its tiny. Do you have good job prospects coming out? stuff like that

HMC is extremely competitive and has engineering programs(albeit only undergrad) just as strong as MIT and caltech. It’s a huge reach for you at the moment because your scores are too low. Especially for math2 score, definitely get it up to 750+ if u can.

it’s hard to tell base on the info you gave, and afterall we are not admission officers.

but yes, HMC is very well respected. Its graduates quite a bit of money(#1 according to payscale i think) :)

First, you definitely want better math scores, both SAT I and SAT II. I would also recommend a better SAT II science score. 750+ for all of these would be best, though I would estimate half of attending students are closer to 800s. After that, have you taken the hardest math and science classes your school has to offer? Do you have ECs demonstrating your passion for math/science? Remember that even if you get into HMC, getting out with a degree is about as tough as it gets, so you’ll need a strong passion and work ethic.

Your GPA is good, maybe too good to align with your SAT and ACT scores. You’d need a SAT of 2300 and ACT of 34 to even hope to get into Mudd, and even then it is not assured. I suggest you try for a UC or Cal Poly instead.

Yea, the main schools i am looking at are cal poly, uc berkeley, ucla, ucsd, and uc irvine. I am really hoping for berkeley. I am expecting a 30 on my ACT and improvement on my SAT 2 math. I just came across harvey mudd and realized how good it is for engineering.

I dont have my heart set on it like i do on berkeley, so be as harsh as you want for HM, is there any chance right now? Would it be a waste of money to apply with my stats? Would playing sports and not being a usual HM student give me an edge?

Yes i agree, how do you feel about CS only getting a BA from berkeley?
And how do you feel about Cal Poly’s learn by doing motto. I have heard that they are better prepared straight out of college.
