wow… we’re in the same boat basically.
=]

Haha yeah, that might help.

Seriously though, you have a good chance at a lot of those schools.

I also was confused about the 3 or 4 to ivies each year… my school sends at least 50 to ivies every year (~top 10%) yet isn’t even in the top 10 in my state.

Ivies: Dartmouth, Brown, Harvard-definitely reaches, esp with that SAT score
Amherst: mid reach
Williams: mid reach
Wesleyan: reach
Brandeis: match
Middlebury: low reach
BC: match
Bowdoin: low reach
Stonehill: don’t know
Bentley: don’t know

Bradeis, BC, and Bowdoin are gonna be matches. Id say youd get in at all three. The others (not the safeties) are maybe slight reaches (unless you get that CR score up a little) but id be surprised if you didnt get into one or two of them

your extracurriculars are definitely extraordinary, but if solely based on your SAT score (which you’ll definitely wanna try and bring up to at least a 2050, I would say)

Ivies: Dartmouth, Brown, Harvard -chances all very low.
Amherst, Williams, Wesleyan, Brandeis, Middlebury, BC, Bowdoin - a very realistic chance at Wesleyan, Brandeis, Middlebury, BC, and Bowdoin, but Amherst and Williams are almost positively no’s.
Safties: Stonehill, Bentley - good safety schools

Ivies: Dartmouth, Brown, Harvard-high reach
Amherst: reach
Williams: low reach
Wesleyan: reach
Brandeis: match
Middlebury: low reach
BC: match
Bowdoin: match
Stonehill: match/safety
Bentley: match/safety

SAT scores man…gotta work on those.

Honestly I think your SATs scores and lack of rigor in your classes are going to kill you. It all depends on how you present your application though and definitely have some very good matches on your list.

Dartmouth - reach
Brown - reach
Harvard -very very high reach
Amherst - reach
Williams - reach
(the first 5 on your list are HUGE reaches, but the Ivies are a crapshoot so you never know)
Wesleyan - lower reach
Brandeis - high match
Middlebury - lower reach
BC - high match/low reach

Most of the top choices are reaches. With those scores, some of the middle seem 50-50. But improving those will probably get you in, esp. with your good grades&EC’s.

I’d say that Amherst definitely looks beyond grades for applicants.
Someone from my school with a 4.25 (out of a 5.3) was accepted. (That’s around 1 A and 4 B’s at my school, if you take the most rigorous courses).
Then again, no one from my school has ever gotten above a 4.95…

I don’t think you can get into any Ivies with that test scores. Sorry. Try to look for some other safety school i.e state schools as well

The Ivies as well as the top LAC’s are all high reaches based on your GPA/rank/test scores

All of your top colleges (Ivies and LACs) are extremely unlikely to admit you. From what I’ve noticed, ECs like yours are more of a tipping factor, not enough to make up for those scores. Also, pre-med is not really a major. Most schools have pre-med advisors that help you plan your courses for med school as you major in something else.

You seem to have a few matches on your list though (Providence College, etc) so you’ll be fine without getting into any ivies.

Hmm id say Brandeis is a good school for you. If you get up the SAT and write great essays, middlebury and brown are low reaches. Wesleyan is a match as well

like everyone is saying, the ivies are high reaches and some of the other specialized colleges are top choices for you…i’m sure u’ll get in with ur spectacular set of ec’s and such. good luck, and keep up the good work :D

acceptance rates class of 2013:
7% Harvard
10.8% Brown
12% Dartmouth
15.1% Amherst
18.6% Bowdoin
20.6% Williams
21.9% Wesleyan
22% Middlebury
28% Boston College (old)
40% Brandeis

I posted these to give you an idea of your chances for each school relative to each other. Sure, some schools will give more weight to your class rank, some to SAT, some to essays, or what you can “give” to the school’s community, but these numbers don’t lie.

The Ivies and LACs will be most difficult to get into, but you have a shot. You can’t get in if you don’t apply, no?

amherst/williams=in

FYI, the last published stats for Brandeis is 32% acceptance rate and 82% of freshman class from top 10% of high school class: [Overview | Fast Facts | About | Brandeis University](Overview | Fast Facts | About | Brandeis University). Even if there was a varience in the most recent class–as there was for Williams, Middlebury, Bates and others–the Brandeis applicant pool is a highly-credentialed and self-selective. The essay and demonstrated interest can make a big difference in admissions success. I would not assume a match status or you could be unpleasantly surprised. As for financial aid, Brandeis is maintaining its commitment to need blind aid and has been successful in fundraising millions specifically for that purpose. There is a misunderstanding that Brandeis lost money with Madoff. Tufts did so but not Brandeis. Naturally, some of Brandeis’ donors were affected. In all events, Brandeis, like other excellent schools, including Harvard, is taking prudent steps to maintain its first-class education.

Weslyan is a superb school, don’t get me wrong, but the competition within Ivy League colleges are on another level completely. You can’t make a valid argument for your high school comparing the acceptance of one student, who might have had special circumstance (legacy, extensive family donations, etc), considering that Weslyan had an acceptance rate of 22% this year.

With that being said, your GPA and SAT I and SAT II are way too low. Retakes are strongly recommended. Your ECs are quite impressive, with a strong focus in economics, but lacking in awards.

I believe that the Ivies would be a mid to high reach for you.

B77: I got my info from [Acceptance rate up 8 percent - News](http://media.www.thejusticeonline.com/media/storage/paper573/news/2009/04/07/News/Acceptance.Rate.Up.8.Percent-3700272.shtml)

just wanted to let you know I didn’t make it up:)

carry on…

Your work experience is pretty impressive! You should probably bring those test scores up a tad tho >.< unfortunately I can only comment on four schools…

Dartmouth - reach
Brown - low reach
Harvard - high reach
Wesleyan - low reach/high match (you never know, look at that friend of yours haha)

Those Ivies are reaches for everyone haha but I think with better test scores and great essays, you’ll have a better chance at Brown^^
