Someone told me my GPA is a 2.36. while another said it was a 1.74.

I have a brother who has nearly identical stats to you. He has around a 2.0 GPA and a low SAT score, like you. He got a 1170.

What he is doing is going to a community college for 2 years, then transferring. I don't think that a 4 year university would for one accept him, and also it may not be the best environment for him.

I'd suggest the same to you. Go to your local community college, get good grades, and get a new start. Then transfer to a better university. Your courses there will be easier for one, and they will count just the same at any university.

BTW - About those rates... those are usually true for students who fit the average criteria at those schools. You are well below. Your GPA and test scores are below their average. You have less than a 50/50 shot at these schools. I know that Western has been underpopulated for years, but it will still be hard for you to get into. I would suggest taking the ACT, if you have your heart set on a 4-year school, but going to a community college for at least a year would be your best bet.
