I'm curious about my chance of acceptance to NYU. I was recently accepted to Tulane and since then i have been wondering if i have any chance for NYU. Tulane has a lower acceptance rate(yes, the free application has a large part in that) and higher test scores than NYU. I'm aware NYU is selective and that I'm a very longshot.

Short Resume:
SAT: 1900(630 CR, 660 M, 610 W)-yeah i know its low
SAT II's: Have no idea why i didnt take any :/
ACT: 28
GPA and class rank: Well I live in Texas so I'm on that stupid 6.0 scale. I currently have a 6.0(you get 7.0 points for A's in AP and Honors)
AP's: World History, English Language and Composition, Psychology, U.S. History- 4's on all tests; Taking AP Government and AP English Literature and Composition at the moment.
Honor Classes: Pretty much every core class(math, english. science, social studies) i've taken in high school was either Honors or AP with the exception of Algebra II and Pre-Cal.

My essays tend to be strong(I'm just god awful at SAT Writing...if that's possible). I believe that's why i got into Tulane. My amount extra-curriculars and volunteer work is good not great, I won't list out all that. I'm basically just curious about NYU. I don't have high hopes our anything like that. I'd like some honest responses.

Oh, I also applied to Fordham a couple of weeks ago and I'm still waiting for a response. Think I'll get in there?

I think you will definitely get into Fordham. I’ve applied to NYU as well, and I think your chances depend on the school. Your SATs and ECs are decent, but unless you are at one of the most competitive schools in the country, your rank will probably hurt you. For Stern, I would say its closer to a reach but to the CAS I think you have a shot. Overall, I think you have a CHANCE just like the many other people that apply and that it could go either way for you. Good luck!

Thank you for the response and good luck to you as well. Yeah my top choices of majors are Political Science, Anthropology, and International Business or Financing. I honestly think I don’t have any chance of getting into Sterns, so if I do apply I would apply to CAS. My school is actually pretty competitive. We had the most AP Scholar last year in the 2nd largest school district in Texas. A good number of people in my grade are heading to Ivy League schools for sure.
I must admit that I have been somewhat of an underachiever in high school though. I was that cynical, teen-angst kid in upper level classes who never studied or did homework and made B’s and low A’s, but this semester I’m getting much better grades and improving my class rank. I’m just afraid it’s too little too late.
