Chance at Princeton, UPenn Jerome Fisher, Ivies, etc.

Michigan and NYU are safeties. Berkeley is a match. All the rest are reaches, but I think that’s already been stated. You don’t need to be told again how good your stats are, so I’d say hold your breath and apply. You’ll get rejected by a few, but you’ll also get into a few, and worse comes to worst, NYU’s a terrific safety school to go to.

Stanford, Princeton, Yale, UPenn Jerome Fisher M&T program - Reaches.
Cornell - Low reach
UMich - Match
UChicago - Low reach
Carnegie Mellon - Match
NYU - Low match
Berkeley - Match

GUYS WHO ARE CHANCING THIS STUDENT, PLEASE REMEMBER WE ARE TALKING ABOUT THE JEROME FISHER PROGRAM AT PENN. This program is easily comparable to HYP, or even harder. There’s a HUGEE diff between Penn and Penn - Jerome fisher.

Berkeley is not a safety especially not for an OOS applicant.

Stanford-reach
Princeton (EA probably) reach
Yale reach
UPenn Jerome Fisher M&T program (Wharton backup) match
Cornell low reach
UMich match
UChicago reach
Carnegie Mellon match
NYU safety
Berkeley match

Chance back?
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1520514-chance-me-homeschooled-all-12-years.html#post16096227</a></p>

Great scores! Theres nothing bad to say about your score. It all depends on essay and recommendations, but no doubt you’ll get into some of the ivies.

Stanford- reach
Princeton (EA probably)- low reach
Yale- reach
UPenn Jerome Fisher M&T program (Wharton backup)- low reach (wharton reach)
Cornell- high match/low reach
UMich- low match
UChicago- high match/low reach
Carnegie Mellon- match
NYU- low match
Berkeley- match

The triple perfect and a bunch of high SAT II’s should absolutely put you in the ball park (as I’m sure you know). Also, whenever I say reach, I mean that it is absolutely attainable. It’s just that the acceptance rates begin to put it at a point where curing cancer is the only guarantee. With regard to all of these schools, one thing that I can say for certain is that your likelihood of admission (in a percentage) is much higher than the general percent of admitted students. I hope that makes sense.

Thanks for chancing me back btw.

Stanford- reach
Princeton/yale (if you do early) reach
UPenn- low reach wharton, not sure about the program
Mich/ NYU/UCB- low match
Cornell- low reach
CMU- high match
UChicago- low reach

You’ve done some amazing things (published a book at this age? That’s amazing, especially considering how competitive publishing is. If you don’t mind me asking, was it with a Big 6 Publisher?) You also have a good GPA and great test scores to back it up. I do think that you have a pretty good chance at whatever school you apply to. More volunteering couldn’t hurt, however, since most applicants have at least 100+ hours. It’d be even better if you volunteered doing something related to your prospective major!

Stanford: reach [always is!]
Princeton (EA probably): reach, but better chance than Stanford
Yale: reach
UPenn Jerome Fisher M&T program (Wharton backup): mid reach
Cornell: low reach
UMich: match
UChicago: reach
Carnegie Mellon: match
NYU: lower match
Berkeley: high match/reach [since it’s pretty hard to get in as an OOS applicant]

Good luck! :)

Ivies are not all reaches! 50% of people who apply to Harvard get in. Your chances have drastically gone from a 5.7% to a 50%. And I wonder how many of those are published authors… hmmmm ;)

Frankly, the Ivies are a crapshoot. You should get accepted to all, but you probably won’t. If you applied to all, I could see you getting into probably 6-ish of them. Princeton and Yale are the same way. However, Darthmouth/Cornell/Brown you should be fine. Penn/Columbia you should get into, but it could go either way.

Beware of Tufts syndrome! That’s what will get you rejected at some of those “safeties” you speak of.

Best regards, and I expect you’ll get into all of your safeties, and a large majority of the schools you’ve posted here (I’d be dumbfounded if you were denied anywhere, but it’s just the way the cookie crumbles, I suppose.)

Chance me back!

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1520857-chance-me-these-8-lacs.html</a></p>

bump10char

bump…

You are in at Michigan, UCB and NYU.
Very good chances at CMU and Cornell.

All others are reach schools unless you have hooks. Do your best then wait.

bump10char

You’ve got a HELL of a chance. Your SAT is amazing and your extracurricular activities are decent. We are applying to more or less the same schools (I am doing Princeton SCEA and Jerome Fisher as well). Chance? All but Stanford, Princeton, Yale are matches at least.

Chance me?
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1533620-chance-me-princeton-wharton-upenn-dartmouth-cornell-harvard-mit.html</a></p>

It sounds like you found everything colleges were looking for and just composed some sort of amazing candidate. (Minus the ECs) Are you sure you’re real? Unfortunately, as a fellow prospective student as well, I don’t know any more about the admissions process than you do. But, if I had to guess, I would say you are on a remarkable track! Congratulations and best of luck! And a published author writing for the teen blog? You don’t know how jealous I am! Journalism has been my life long dream! Best of luck, again!

@appforcollege would you mind chancing me? I’d really appreciate it.

bububump…

Hello! First off, thanks for chancing me! Secondly, I think that your stats are amazing. Even though I’m sure there are plenty of them, I don’t see 2400s very often, haha.

Your ECs are great too. Like you said, there are not many of them but what you have seems to be more than enough. Congratulations on that published book!

As for your chances, I know you did not want to here this, but Ivies, Stanford, and other schools of similar greatness really are reaches for everyone. So many people out there have amazing ECs, credentials, etc. that it is impossible for them all to get in. I do think, however, that you have a good chance of getting into at least one of these schools as long as you make sure you write superb essays. With more and more applicants of equal amazingness every year, essays really can make or break you. Make sure you really spend some time working on them and polishing them until their at their finest.

Besides your essays, there is not really much you can do at this point. I say write awesome essays and hope for the best. Good luck!

bububump…

Dude, don’t take this the wrong way (you seem like a cool and awesome person plus you are my friend on CC) but don’t you think you have gotten plenty of chances? You are pushing 60 posts and chance threads are usually not this long. Each post is telling you the same thing: you have perfect stats and you seem like an amazing writer. You have very little to worry about. You will definitely go somewhere amazing for college and you will probably do something amazing with your life. This was just a suggestion. If you need more advice, bumping could help you. However, mostly everyone will tell you the same thing.

Oh of course, I was just bored. Prodding the old CC crowd to see their thoughts. I already know my chances lol.
