Notes:

+The rank and GPA are according to the data from January 2007. I was ranked 5th then, however, I believe that there is a substantial possibility of moving up one rank.
+I will update the AP scores once they come out. Here are the projections: USH (4-5), Biology (4), Chemistry (3-4), English Language (5).
+I'm expecting to raise the SAT scores to the following: 750 CR, 760 M, 800 W (2310)
+The SAT II scores are horrible, I know. Am I required to send all scores? If not, I'd like to keep the Bio score to myself. Hopefully after studying, I'll get 780-800 for both USH and Math IIC.
+The reason that I dropped the Science Olympiad, Key Club and Student Council after my sophomore year is that I realized that I wasn't passionate about them. I just did them to keep myself busy and somewhat for college purposes.
+I'm expecting to make All-Region Band and All-State Band next year also.
+I also attended 4 leadership retreats with the Band.
+I performed at UT Recital Hall and churches.

Oh oops, and will apply to UPenn ED.

to be honest, your verbal is quite low...

I applied to Penn two years ago and didn't get in, and i had similar grades and a higher sat score (think 1450+, and close to a 700 on verbal)

for an asian, your numbers are unimpressive. but your ECs stand out. i say in at lower ivies

I know :( My tests scores didn't turn out the way I expected.
Which ones are safeties and reaches?

low reach:
UPenn
Columbia
Cornell
Brown
UC Berkeley

reach:
Yale

high match:
NYU
Georgetown
Rice
Chicago
Emory

safety:
UTexas Honors

Your CR score is low, which will hurt you at the Ivies. And Berekely? If you're out of state, not happening.

Solely because of your CR and your ethnicity I'd say all of those low reach schools are actual reaches.

Which school in Penn are you applying to?

Like I said, I'll retest in October and the score will probably go up around 750, since that's what I usually get on practice tests.

And I'm applying to Wharton.

I think you're in at UT-Honors, Emory, and NYU. Out at UC Berkeley (OOS), Rice (biased against in-state residents, go figure!), good shot at Georgetown, Chicago, Cornell, no to Yale, Columbia, Brown, and Wharton.

If you do happen to bring that CR up to 750, I'd shift everything a bit. That is, Berkeley and Rice would be possible, Gtown/Chicago/Cornell would practically be matches, and Yale/Columbia/Brown/Wharton wouldn't be such high reaches. Good luck.

anyone else?

I think you should just apply and stop worrying.... your life doesn't depend on what school you go to

seriously, no offense, but the asians on this board need to relax

hahahahaha

bbumppppp^

Thats amazing... 5.40 unweighted? I didn't know you could have higher than a 4.0!!!

oops sorry flip the w and the uw

So much for "organized"... I think that blunder just disqualified you from half of those schools :(

You can't get higher than 5.0 weighted....

I think, because your brother currently attends Columbia, that you have a good chance there. Good leadership and EC's, especially that All-State thingamajigger....bad CR score (kinda like mine, I got a 680, but I'm retaking that sucker) so you'll want to try to get a perfect, esp. since you're asian. I agree with Firefox's chances, except for the Columbia and Cornell ones.

UTexas Honors?

You can probably apply to MUCH better safety schools....

Why are you applying ED if money is a concern? Are you and your family prepared to pay/take out loans for as much as 200k?

Also, if you are OOS (Texas resident?) and middle class, UCB is likely to offer you 45k/yr in loans.
