1410/2400???

Cal/UCLA/UCSD: Reaaaaachhhhhhhh

It's not happening, sorry.

You should really study for the SAT; take some classes or something.

Super reach, especially with that SAT score... You say you're low-income, so SAT classes are probably out of the question, but find a prep book at the library or something and practice for the next few months and take it again... You're GPA is also a bit on the low side, but there isn't much you can do about that... Sorry to say it, but unless you pull miracles with that SAT score, relapse is right. Far reach for UCSD

Your SAT is equivalent to a 20 ACT...yet you pulled a 28 on the ACT. Obviously, you're stronger on the ACT, so I say that you try to pull that score up to the 30 range. UCSD takes the higher score of either ACT or SAT. Also try to get 700+ on the SAT subject tests. It's only a reach if you give up

no chance at all. sorry.

I would say reach, but then again the UCs can be very unpredictable.

For example, my best friend and a classmate got into every UC including UCLA with a 1560. SAT IIs around the 500s.

Friend that graduated in 06 got into berkeley, where she is currently at, with an SAT score in the 1400s.

So anything can happen, just try your best on the personal statements

^06 prob. used old sat, no?
If they did 1400s is very good

^
Well they wouldn't be able to use the old SAT. UC's require applicants to take the new SAT now.

ya wut about her/his ACT score ...it is above the average. Your GPA is quite low though. On average they admit students with about a 4.1. If you use the pt system to your advantage, you could possibly get in. You get points if you explain your situation and stuff...how you are disadvantaged..and also for low income.

16399, if she was an 06 grad...?

I would think the year they graduated in wouldn't matter. Anyone else correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that if they're applying for next year then they need the new SAT regardless of graduation date.

no dawg, i think she grad. from hs in 06 and is going to berk so she could've used old sats

The application says that you can't use the old SAT (<a href="http://www.ucop.edu/pathways/ucnotes/march05/news1.html%5B/url%5D">http://www.ucop.edu/pathways/ucnotes/march05/news1.html</a>) for freshman applications.

I think he knows that but he meant she took the test BEFORE the 2400/SAT test even existed so the UC's still accepted the SAT scores.

if you graduated in '06, then it was completely fine to use the old SAT scores...because my friends did...

the ones required to use new ones were '07 i think..

I guess it's OK if you graduated in '06 then. I just remember our counselors telling us a lot that we couldn't use the old SATs (who would've taken the SAT in freshman year anyways). But if she did graduate in '06, that's quite a few gap years to worry about instead of the SAT. Also, the GPA is on the low side. I'd have to agree with everyone in that it'll be a reach.

no i believe it was the new sat, but i can double check with her sister

k i checked with her sister and it was the new SAT.

even though her score was very low, she had other things going for her like a gpa above 4.0

...I thought we were talking about the OP xD
