I have a couple of safeties in mind, but any recommendations would be great!! I only listed my top tier dream schools.
Thanks for your comments!!

Those are 20-1 or 10-1 shots.

What will make your friend stand out from the extremely competitive applicant pools at those top brand schools?

You have a pretty good shot at all of those schools. The bassoon definitely sets you apart. Sports and volunteering makes you look really well rounded. Once again they are ivies so its hard to really say whether you will get in. Im not sure how to compare sat to act but if your act score will be better than sat i would definitely take the act. Good safeties would be state schools if your interested in any like uva unc michigan wisconsin. Boston college smu tulane wake forest usc those are some good match/safety schools. I dont really know what you want in your college besides prestige so its hard to really say what good safeties are. ^^to be a little more specific. I think you have a really high shot at the UCs and definitely a competitive applicanr at the ivies. Maybe higher chances at upenn and cornell than yale and stanford.

Great chance at UC’s
Cornell is a high match
Stanford is a reach and UPenn is a reach.

You have a really good chance, but its impossible to tell for those selective schools. I think you will get into all the UCs (either Berkeley or LA, but not both). Just out of curiosity, why are you choosing hotel management?

@ClarinetDad16 Well she hoped that being a good bassoon player and having a stellar arts supplement could be helpful.

@csumit Shoot! I forgot to specify that my friend is applying business for every school, except Hotel Management for Cornell. She said that she just wanted to see if she could get in and it sounded like a fun major (combining communications and business).

If they don’t need a bassoonist it is not of value to those schools.

If your friend’s arts supplement is stellar after 1-2 years playing the bassoon (I may be misreading your post, but as I interpret it she got the bassoon during the summer before grade 11), she should look into a musical career.

I will never understand why people chance for their friends lol. Making an account isn’t hard or time consuming. Bassoon is unique. I think your friend has a decent chance at the Ivies and Stanford. Decent is still very slim, though. Find some safeties.

@NotVerySmart She’s been playing for most of her life, but she bought her own really good bassoon after the summer job.

@emilyskates Do you recommend any safety schools with good business programs? Thanks!

Penn: I think you have a pretty good shot but you dont have amazing stats. Maybe 20% chance you get in.
Same with stanford and Yale. Cornell you have a slightly batter chance at.
UC’s you have a very good shot for. LA and Berkeley maybe 65% chance you get in. Best of Luck
