Major:
USC- (Dornsife: Computational Mathematics or Physics/CS)
UCI-CS
UCLA-Materials Engineering
UCB-L&S CS
UCSD-CS
UCSB-CS
UCD-CS
UCI: Match
UCSB/UCD: High Match
UCLA/UCSD: Low Reach
UCB/UCSC: Reach
SAT is competitive but UC’s are very GPA focused and for CS you want to be above the averages.
You need more Match and at least one safety school.
Good essays could boost your chances. Add UCSC and UCR to your list. Also consider Santa Clara, SJSU and maybe SLO.
^ I like how @Gumbymom literally ignored the request to chance USC LOL
I think your chances are pretty good- your EC’s are very very remarkable and the upward trend is definitely great (you and I are both in the same boat when it comes to C’s sophomore year, and we both have a very quantum-jump type upward trend). I think the higher UC’s such as UCLA and UCB are reaches while the rest should be within acceptance. USC…hm, I think that’s within range as well.
Chance back? It’s a long post but I’d appreciate if you can read it all/give feedback http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1904474-chance-me-for-the-following-rising-senior-with-huge-upward-trend.html#latest
Sorry, I missed that and but it was not intentional.
USC would be a Low Reach/High Match since your UW GPA is below the average for USC but they would like your SAT Math score. Again having really good essays would give you a boost for USC.
@Gumbymom thanks for the chance, but I’m wondering how UCSC is a reach?
Typo on UCSC. Was originally going to put USC but changed my mind and then didn’t post it with the original chance. UCSC would be a low match/safety. Too many mistakes opps
Let’s just start again since I cannot edit:
USC: High Match/Low Reach since you are not applying to Viterbi
UCI: Match
UCSB/UCD: High Match
UCLA//UCSD: Low Reach
UCB: Reach even though you are applying to L&S instead of EECS. Other than the JAVA course, do not see any other EC’s directed toward CS.
You seem like a qualified applicant and your essays could make the difference. Good Luck and I hope you have some great options in the Spring.
@Gumbymom Thanks for the chance! Still open to more opinions!
