Chance at USC

GPA: 4.13

SAT: 2090
Math: 770
Writing: 700
Critical Reading: 620

SAT Subject Tests:
USH: 630
Math 2: 770

Ap Tests:
Psychology: 4
Physics, Calc AB, Lang, and US history: I don't know yet

Extracurriculars:
Varsity Golf: 1 year
JV Water Polo: 2 years
JV Swim: 1 year

Student Government: 3 years
Junior class president, senior class treasurer, sophomore class secretary, site council president, asb head of athletics

Volunteer:
Casa De Amistad: 1 year

Miracle League: 1 year

Summer camp:
USC Cisoft: most selective camp at USC. They only accept 20 kids in the country and I received a full ride to the camp. Hopefully this will help with admissions to USC.

It is my dream to go to the university of Southern California and I need to get in! Should I retake the SAT in October and just focus on critical reading for my superscore? Any other things I should add to bolster my app?

USC: Reach (at least it’s reachable)

You have about a 35% chance of getting in RIGHT NOW. I would suggest retaking the SAT(Go for a 2100), Retaking the US History Subject Test, and Increasing your extra-curricular activities(Turn those JV sports into Varsity ones). Good Luck! Chance me back if you can!

2100 wouldn’t change very much; more like 33+/2200+.

It’s a slight reach from what you’re showing us.

Your SAT is average, so I think you should either retake it and try for 2200+ and maybe -if you want - you can take the ACT. USC accepts either, and maybe you’ll do better on the ACT (then you can also abandon that USH grade If I’m correct). For me personally, the ACT was a lot easier. Colleges only see one or the other so it’s really good to take both and show them your best.

The biggest thing you can do though is increase your EC’s! Perhaps, as someone else said, bump those JV’s up to varsity.

My last suggestion, Do something really amazing that will make you stand out to the admissions committee. Many applicants have good grades, etc. but admissions love qualities that set you apart from all of the other applicants (like founding a club that puts on shows and the profits send kids in Uganda through college) or something like that. You want the admissions to remember you.
