Chance at UT Austin Engineering Honors

I'm currently a high school senior that's going to apply for UT ChemE. I really want to get into the Engineering Honors, but I'm not too sure how hopeful I should be...

My SAT scores are my biggest drawback, because they aren't that great (same with PSAT). Total SAT score: 2190. Math+CR: 1430 (780 Math, 650 CR).
However, I suppose my class rank is okay. My school is infamously competitive (and challenging), and UT does know our school pretty well. GPA weighted: 4.4-4.5, Top 6-7%. That was for up until only half of 11th grade, though. My grades got better, so my rank will probably continue to go up.

I take all AP courses (more to come this year):
US History- 4
Chem- 5
Calc AB- 5
Chinese- 5
English- 4
World History- 4

I've been in band for all 4 years, competed in various competitions with my marching band and soloing on flute. I also play the piano (12-year history), and I also have won some awards here and there.
I have a student leader position in band, too, continuing on 2 years.

I volunteered last summer at a hospital for 88 hours.
My most unique asset is the fact that I interned at a chemical company this summer.
I also have a letter of recommendation from them- should I use that letter for both applying to UT and applying to UT Engineering Honors?

So, do I stand a chance at UT Engineering Honors? D: Please help!

Probably, you would just need to see what they require to be in honors.

From my experience, Engr Honors gives most importance to test scores, class rank, and lastly, EC’s and essays.
Your rec would help, so definitely send that in to the Admissions Office and EHP admissions.
If you can, it would be a good idea to retake the SAT in hopes of getting 2250+ (1500/1600 in one sitting is an optimal score for EHP). It’s high enough to get into Cockrell, but not a guarantee for Honors.
