Chance at UW Madison?

<p>I am a junior in HS.</p>

<p>Top 15% of class.
My school does not have class ranks but only percentiles</p>

<p>Classes (this year):
AP English Language and Composition-A
Chemistry- A-
Trigonometry- A-
Spanish IV- B+
Concert Band- A
US History- A</p>

<p>Next year I am taking 6 classes, four of which are AP
GPA:
Unweighted- 3.711
Weighted- 3.736</p>

<p>ACT:
25- am retaking it in a month
Also planning on taking the SAT </p>

<p>Extracurricular:
3 years in HS musical (pit orchestra/band)
3 years top Jazz Band
Chess Club
Fishing Club
11 years of piano
7 years of saxaphone
Big Brothers-Big Sister
Volunteer Work w/ Habitat for Humanity- in New Orleans
Varsity soccer</p>

<p>Agree. Maintain similar grades and get a 29 or above on the ACT and I’d give you a good chance.</p>

<p>Getting a 29 on the ACT only gives him only a “good” chance??? I don’t know about that. I just got accepted today with identical stats compared to the person who started the thread. Same ACT, grades, etc and I got in and it only took about 2 weeks to hear back. I think you have a very good chance.</p>

<p>Consider yourself fortunate, uminngophs, for the majority of applicants with your stats would not be admitted.</p>

<p>OP, your challenging classes next year will look good provided you continue to get similar grades. I, too, would recommend you try for a higher ACT score. You might also consider taking the SAT – some people tend to do better on it.</p>

<p>I’d say you have a fairly good chance if you retake the ACT.</p>

<p>I was just admitted to Madison yesterday, and I have a 3.7 GPA weighted and 28 on the ACT. I also was heavily involved in ECs like you.</p>
