Chance at UW?

<p>With my junior year complete, I thought it would be the right time to finally narrow down to a few schools I should apply to. </p>

<p>I am an Iranian American in the SF Bay area who is looking to attend the University of Washington. I would like to major in Biology with the ultimate goal of attending Med School. </p>

<p>My Stats:</p>

<p>Weighted GPA 10-11 Grade: 3.67
SAT I: 1820
SAT IIs taken in US History, and Biology. I do not think I did to well on those.
ACT: Not Taken Yet</p>

<p>I plan on retaking the SAT I and ACT in the fall, and yes, I realize my GPA is extremely low. </p>

<p>I hold the title of "Manager" as the store I work at
1 year of leadeship at my high school
Most Improved Student (Freshman year)</p>

<p>I have taken three college courses at my local community college</p>

<p>My summer project includes starting up a Charity with Micro-financing by incorporating the school's Stock Market cub.
I am also going to be a basketball coach for 7th and 8th graders this fall through the city I live in. </p>

<p>your GPA is fine, i wouldnt say its low, your SAT is great, and same with your extracurriculars.</p>

<p>they only look at your unweighted GPA, I think the average unweighted GPA was like 3.7 something for 08-09. but I got in with a 3.3 unweighted and I from the SF bay area also.</p>

<p>If they only look at your unweighted GPA I am in trouble, because I only have a 3.3 GPA. Thats pretty discouraging.</p>

<p>I wonder how much being Persian plays into the admissions process. I am half Persian, yet I never see anything about Iranian ethnicity on any forms.</p>

<p>I’m Persian too and I don’t think it plays a huge role in the admissions process at all. We are considered white/caucasian and not a minority.</p>

<p>^^ yea, I dont think it plays a role in admissions, most people on the site write their ethnicity, so I thought I would too… Do you guys attend UW?</p>
