Hi guys,

I just want an honest review of my chances at Yale Early Action.

THANK YOU SO MUCH

The problem with Yale is that no matter how competitive you are, there is never a safe bet with being accepted. With that being said, if you can retake the ACT and really focus on your GPA the first semester of senior year, it may be in reach. Your extracurriculars are spectacular, and they show commitment. Yale may be in reach. Maybe you can chance me back? Good luck! http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/2006193-chance-me-please.html#latest

Although you may ultimately be admitted, your grades are trending down with more B’s each year. That is not the transcript that pops out in a good way in the SCEA round. Since you are about to take your most challenging schedule this fall, I would imagine you would be deferred so that you could be compared to the RD pool once your fall semester grades can be seen. You may want to use your EA card somewhere less competitive and surely focus on your studies this fall to show you can rise to the top in all your AP classes while maintain your EC involvement.

@JLBball5 , I hate being negative about anyone’s chances. I think that Yale, and some of the other schools you’re interested in, are a stretch (I.e., more than they are for anyone). Pick your absolute favorite. But, put a lot more energy in matches and safeties. Good luck.
