Community Service
Close to 200 hours in the past 1 1/2 years participating in the organization that I co-founded downtown that assists Chicago's homeless. Will accumulate over 300 by the end of 2010. (I am really hoping to make this a focal point of my character to the colleges, for after my shoulder injury, my passions and ambition shifted to helping those less fortunate than myself- this is what my personal statement is based upon).
I have also served with student council, the baseball team and at many events at my church throughout the past 6 years of involvement at my new church.

pretty good chance, your EC’s seem good and it also depends on your essays. I know a girl, she was international, got 2000 on SAT and got in…

bump :slight_smile: go wolverines!

is or oos?
class rank? UW gpa?
ur doing preffered admit?

I really wonder how much they really care about ECs and volunteer hours. I mean I hardly had any hours and not really any spectacular ECs, just good grades. But I guess that is how it should be. Oh, and IS or OOS?

Close to 200 hours in the past 1 1/2 years participating in the organization that I co-founded downtown that assists Chicago’s homeless.

Looks like Illinois… OOS

Out of state (Illinois)
Rank is 73/560
UW GPA= 3.5
Regular Admission

Thank you for the help everyone

Your UW GPA would significantly hurt your chances if it’s listed on your transcript.

UW GPA is not anywhere on the transcript!

I would say UMichigan is a low reach, based on your uw GPA, rank, test scores, EC’s, and intended major for an OOS applicant. You still have a shot, however, and I wish you good luck!
