Chance below average URM at Cornell

I'm a junior. Black, male, first-gen status. I also reside in VA. I had some issues as a freshman so I'm a bit worried about the application process. So I need some expert advice on my chances.

Teach Kindergarten Sunday School every week. Volunteer at local library. I will probably gain more leadership positions as a Senior.
I have excellent recs from my Chemistry teacher who had a PhD and my counselor. My essay will be above average explaining freshman year troubles.

SAT's: 2020 Math:710, WR:700, CR:610. I still have to take Math Level 2, and another subject test.
Cornell is my DREAM school and if I apply I would like to be in their Applied Economics and Management Program.
Schools I plan on Applying to: Cornell, UVA, VTech, James Madison, William & Mary, George Mason, Boston U, Carnegie Mellon.

Also what can I do to improve my chances first semester Senior year?

Bump Please! Update: I will be applying early decision taking the October SAT I, and November SAT II's.

Bbbbuuuummmmpppp!!!!

I'll answer your question if you answer mine. (Urgent advice required!)

your ECs are pretty strong, but your freshman GPA will hurt you. What's your overall GPA and class rank [both are really important factors]. Retake your SAT I, and try to aim for at least 2150.
It doesn't hurt to try, and being URM and 1st gen will def. help you. Write killer essays- don't try to 'explain' poor grades w/ a sob story. You can write about your troubles, but focus on how you have GROWN from the troubles.
Good luck!

My cumulative GPA will be 3.25 because of my freshman year, and my school does not rank its students.
