CHANCE CCC to UCB or UCLA

attending a SBCC, looking to transfer for Fall 2014.

Major: Political Science
GPA: 3.54
Major GPA: 3.53
Post High School GPA: 3.7 (will bump over next two semesters)
(i have been taking classes at this CC since i was in high school and more than half of my credits are pre graduation also 80% of my major classes were done pre HS grad)

ECs: Middle East Studies club, International studies club, arabic club, Student Senate, PTK, Honors Program, part time job (employed for 2 years), involved at my local Hillel (jewish organization), possibly tutoring next semester

It's worth noting that the Honors program at my CC has an agreement with UCLA that provides for priority consideration, I'm not sure all the details, but i have heard that some years over 50% of applicants from my school got in. then same does not go for UCB

i know the GPA is lowish but what do you think? :)

Your GPA is a little on the low side for politics science. Try to really hard to get As this Fall to raise it a little. I would say 3.65+ should give you a decent shot. The average GPA admitted for PS at UCLA was 3.78 in 2012.

Participating in the honors program will definitely help you out if it gives you TAP consideration at UCLA. Otherwise, it looks pretty doubtful. You never know though, keep working hard and get the grades and you could make it happen.

Your membership in the TAP program will help you a lot with UCLA. Your extracurriculars will help you very much with UC Berkeley. I’d say that in spite of your slightly below average GPA, your profile is very strong. Just try to get straight As next semester; that will definitely boost your GPA significantly. Best of luck!
