Chance, chance, chance please! =]

hey everyone...

I'm applying to Exeter, Andover, Deerfield, Milton, Taft
-academics-
currently in 9th in the IB MYP program, applying for 10th
been in advanced programs since 2nd grade
we have semester grades so no final grades yet but 5 A's and 1 B in math D:
have gotten 4.0 since middle school like 6th grade
classes: honors spanish 2, honors world history, honors english, honors chem, and AP Calculus and PE

EC's
been fencing for 3 or so years
travel alot to many states for like summer nationals and north american cups
recently got 3rd at a north american cup
nationally ranked #12
i played violin for 8 years but no awards or anything
Science Olympiad and math clubs- some awards, #1 in school in AMC 8 (american math league)

applied for 9th grade last year and was waitlisted at Exeter, Andover, Deerfield, and Lawrenceville...
i live in CA and im asian

interviews- were good, recs are great-ok depending on teacher..., essays should be good, but im not the best writer.

no financial aid
brother at deerfield--would that help?!

AND i got my SSAT scores back...kinda dissappointed, with a 95%, high 80s in verbal, 97 in math :/

chances plz?

I would like to tell everyone here one thing that I can't stand, and that's faking modesty. I absolutely hate it when people are out there to "draw compliments", it's almost as bad as taking a million photos of yourself, posting it on Facebook, and then commenting "i look fat".

So please, if you're not happy with a 95, don't send if in your application, period.

@ leekleek123: you never know. maybe they're just super insecure. they DID get wait-listed at a bunch of elite schools last year..

but to poster:
"nationally ranked #12" ?! umm.. if that's true, i don't think you have anything to worry about, especially with your SSAT scores (okay, worrying about a 95 is plain dumb. get over it, please).

& we're not really to judge. just be confident and hope for the best (but prepare for the worst) until march 10th. that's the best advice anybody could give you :P

kinda changing the subject..what weapon do you fence? (I've been fencing for about two years (recreational) I fence foil and a little bit of sabre)

Leekleek,
Truer words were never spoken.

COMON GUYS! Don't you get it, he is only beating 95% of the top people in the world... Comon man I'm pretty sure a 99% will be the lowest accepted.

So go retake it.

12 is not good enough, #1 is the best though they like seeing #-10.

Hope that helps.

Do any of these schools (or any high school in the country, public or private, for that matter) have high quality fencing programs? I've been going to most USFA national events for the past five years, and I don't remember ever hearing a prep school affiliation announced during the medal ceremonies; the affiliations are always clubs, except for occasionally universities.

If the OP has managed to earn a #12 ranking with his/her local club, his/her college prospects would possibly be better served by staying put. I assume that is a Y-14 ranking; if you can reach that high on the senior or U-20 NRPS as a HS school junior, you will be heavily recruited to fence in college.

I agree with sherpa, I have inquired about fencing at Taft and Exeter
Taft: no fencing program at all
Exeter: club fencing (intramural) but it doesn't count as a sports credit, it is a club (just like chess club, or debate club)
I don't know about the other schools
