Chance: Cornell Hotel School

Hello~
I really want to attend the Cornell Hotel School. I am a junior at one of the top 50 high schools in the country according to US news report. My grades are not at Cornell standards, as I have a 3.45 GPA and a 1930 SAT score. My father has been a hotel manager for many years and I have grown up in and around them. I also have 2 internships at well known hotels this summer. I really love hotels and have a lot of knowledge concerning the hotel industry already. Do you think I have a chance of getting in?

The experience may be a hook, but without it you have minimal chances, because of Cornell being an Ivy.

Ya I know it’s a reach but Ill give it a shot.

Anyone else have any opinions?

Are you sure UNLV isn’t for you?

That’s too far for me haha

My son is very interested in Cornell’s Hotel Admin School. He is applying Early Decision and has an on campus interview in a few weeks. can you tell me what kinds of questions they ask; is a suit necessary; what kind of attitude do they expect. He has hospitality experience , too.

A suit is definitely necessary. If you go on their website they have questions that you should expect. Basically your son should just convey his passion for the hotel industry and be himself.
