Is that the weighted GPA? If so, what is the UW? I only ask because the ACT seems low for the 4.0…the 25th% for Case was 29…has your D visited, interviewed, etc. because borderline admits really need to show interest…it’s hard to chance her without knowing how the GPA and ACT are so far apart. Did she try the SAT? Take the ACT more than once? What is her intended major?

Thanks Sdgal2
Accumulative UW GPA: 3.76
Accumulative Weighted GPA: 4.02
This semester GPA: 4.75 (with AP Language and Composition, AP Calculus AB, Advanced Physics, Honors Spanish III, Honors Anatomy and Physiology, and 2 state required classes).
Major: Biophysics.
Class ranking: 42 out of 365 students.
ACT score is low because she spent a decade at a underprivileged school district, which rarely assess its students. They also did not teach her the fundamentals in core classes, General Bio, General Chem, Algebra II. etc…She’s play catch up right now while taking AP classes. D does well on bigger concepts in these classes, but those fundamentals that she’s been missing out on…well, it reflects on her ACT section scores.

That’s an interesting background…it sounds like she has rebounded nicely and can make a compelling argument for the lower test score…also, I believe she may be a URM, yes? Hopefully she has interviewed or been in touch with her Case regional admissions person and/or the admissions dept. at Case. As an aside, my D is a freshman at Case and absolutely loves it!

Thank you for your reply Sdgal2. I will make sure we’ll get in touch with her Case regional admissions person.

And yes, URM.

Hi Sdga2. May I ask what is your daughter’s major, and her stats when she applied to CWRU?

LanaHere… I pm’d you…

I got your message Sdgal2, Thanks! I wish your D luck in her academic career. She sounds like a hard worker.

Were they accepted?

@Onyxpanda - Yes, her last ACT score was much higher.
