Chance EDII?

Hi, I've started to get pretty nervous about the college application process, and I was hoping to get some opinions of some seasoned applicants.

I'm interested in studying : Cognitive Psychology, Astronomy, Music Production, and open for ideas!

I have a ~4.25 weighted, 3.96 unweighted GPA, and after my senior year I will have finished 8 AP Classes. I have a 31 composite on my ACT, and a 2000 on my SAT

I've taken: AP World, APUSH and APGov, APPsych, APChem, AP Spanish and am taking APCalc, APEnglish Lang and Lit, and AP Spanish Lit
Although, not every score has been amazing..

I've played two varsity sports, tennis and golf. Tennis i've lettered 7 times, and am the captain. Also captain of the academic team.
I have probably around 80-100 hours of community service.
I'm president of the National Beta Club, vice-president of NHS, have been co-president of Spanish club, officer of Social Action Club, member of SGA and film.
Along with the aforementioned ECs, Im co-chair for an environmental task for in the city, work at local expos, play AAU basketball, teach myself piano, and run 20 miles a week.

Along with this i've gotten a few national and state awards and recognitions.
and i'm a vegetarian.

Thanks!

Your 3.96 unweighted GPA, 31 ACT, and 2000 SAT scores are all within the middle 50% of admitted students at Emory in 2010. The rigor of your course load seems fine. Thus, you should have a good chance, even at a highly selective college such as Emory. You are probably a match. There are a lot of applicants with similar stats, though. Hopefully, you will increase your chances by writing outstanding essays, getting impressive recommendations, showing demonstrated interest and other factors. Applying EDII should help with the demonstrated interest. Your ECs are probably somewhat above-average. Are you good enough at tennis that it might be worth your while to contact the Emory tennis coach? Frankly, I don’t know if a coach can help with admissions at Emory, but it couldn’t hurt.

how does your school calculate unweighted? just wondering.

i don’t honestly know, it’s out of a 4.0…
and bump!

looks like you are a solid applicant. Although that doesnt gurantee you an admission.

You SAT is on the “low” side at Emory; however, i think your AP classes, GPA, and especially your extracurriculars more than makes up for it. Just dont send in your AP scores until after admission.

Also make sure you take considerable pains in your essays, that could be your turning point. Also make sure your recommendations are solid too.

Other than that…I say Emory would accept you…

I don’t know if you’ll get in. Depends on how hard your high school is? A high GPA is worth more at some schools than others. Your SAT is not great but there are some people here with those scores. Also, does Emory even have an Astronomy program. I’ve never heard of anyone studying it. Emory is a very pre-professional school in terms of the types of students who go here. Most kids here want to be doctors, lawyers, accountants or bankers.
