Your chances are as good as anybodies but that’s a lot of schools yours applying to which won’t be cheap. If you know you want to do electrical engineering or computer engineering why not focus on schools like Michigan and Illinois because their programs are very highly ranked. I’m a CS major and our tech majors (CS, EE, Comp. E) dont rank that well compared to other schools that may be easier to get into. But I’d say your chances are good, Vandy likes to promote diversity as well.

I agree with V3023; 14 applications is too many, especially since most of them are reaches.

It is good that you have a couple relative safeties: UFlorida, BostonU and maybe UIUC. However, it is unlikely that you will be able to write essays and put forth maximum effort for 14 applications.

Figure out what is most important to you and cut 3-6 schools from your list.

yeah i know they aren’t cheap but my college fund by gods grace will be able to handle it phew
I’ve not sent my apps for cooper union, Boston university, Vanderbilt and USC.
That is why i posted here because if i go to Vanderbilt i want to go with scholarship(as they are one of the few institutions with a good engineering program plus merit based scholarships fr international students), how do you think my chances are for that?
Thanks I’ve sent 11 apps till date.

Well if your going for the merit based scholarships I don’t think your scores are high enough, but I could be wrong. Most of the Cornelius Vanderbilt Scholars I know were genius super students in HS (i.e. ex-valedictorians, perfect score on ACT, started some organization, etc.). I’d say a merit based scholarship is possible but you would need to have a GREAT essay. Being able to write well and pull in the reader is really important and can definitely increase your chances. However, if your just trying to get accepted I still think you have a good shot.

I’m not really sure about other colleges. I’m only familiar with Vanderbilts admissions process because I went through it, every university is different so research is key.
