It’s sad that we live in a day where this has to be the first line of your post.

Not if you get a 2400 the first time!

Knowing nothing about the admissions procedures of these schools, I’d say you have a good shot at all of them except the ones you don’t have a shot at.

I believe you have a good shot at your schools. You should do well on your SATs , seeing that you are a good student with good grades and good EC’s. I like the robotics as well and key club should appeal a bit. Good luck!!

Besides M.I.T. (High Reach) and UMich (Reach) I think that you stand a good chance to get into the rest of the listed schools. One of the weak points of your application are the EC’s. You should definitely aim for one internship and besides that work on your Robotics- club.

Your GPA so far and your course rigor look strong, but I can’t really tell without numbers this early in the game. Your estracurriculars look a bit weak for those reach schools, but good enough for the safer ones. Here are the schools I know enough about to guess at:
Cal tech - high reach.
UC berkley - mid reach.
MIT(reach lol) - yeah, lol, high reach.
Georgia tech - probably in.
Maryland, U michigan - safety.

Caltech and MIT are both are slight reaches for you - continue to work hard junior and senior year, and you’ll stand a pretty good shot. It’s hard to say where you’ll come in because you don’t offer SAT scores. My advice would be continue your community service and ECs, they both seem pretty strong. Every other school on your list are targets. Best of luck!

Thanks. I hope my PSAT score is good enough to reflect projected SAT. I am in Maryland if that helps anyone and the only legacy i have is my dad went to maryland for engineering. Does anybody know anything about ETH zurich

*just about…but there could be lust too.
a 1400 is like a 2100 now?? I’ve always liked CMU and RPI, but when I heard about cooper union I was like, a small school in NYC, interesting. Might visit next summer. Also, when do you propose is the best time to start writing essays? Near the end of Summer?

Caltech and MIT are definitely high reaches. Berkeley is probably around a low reach. The rest you should be able to get into. Good luck to you! :D

I live in the area near RPI, and I know alot of students grades far lower than yours who have gotten in. Granted, most of them are girls, so that makes them a minority :P. you seem to have strong grades though and I’d say except for Caltech and MIT, which could still be possible, all your schools are solid target schools. Good luck!
